DVC Magical Express Question

When booking your magical express, does DVC allow you to book more people than what the maximum the room will allow? I know that a friend was able to book dining for 3AD 2CH in a 1 bedroom but I wasn't sure about the transportation.

Some DVC resorts have legal 1bdrs for 5 persons: MBR bed(2), sleep sofa(2) and sleeper chair(1) ==>5 persons.

I'm at the Boardwalk Villas which are just 4 people max I believe. Trying to decide if I should rent a car...

When you call into ME to get your tickets and lugguage tags, they will ask how many people. Say 5 ... all Disney units have "cribs", don't they?

Not sure if they have "connected" the fact that we are the same family that has booked many packages with them. If so they will know the ages of my children. I wonder if they ask for detailed information when I call?

I believe that BLT and AKV are the only DVC resorts that you can have 5 people over the age of 5 (or 3, I can't remember) in a 1BR - this is because at AKV and BLT they have a "sleeper chair" that would be the bed for the 5th adult/child over 5.

I don't think that you can get DME for more people than are on your actual reservation nor can you get the dining plan for someone not listed on your reservation.

How many people are in your party ?

Chris

I think you are giving ME too much credit - you are not a DVC member, you could certainly have had another baby (it is Disney;) ), your teenager could have had a baby (not the Disney style, so be shameful ;) ), or you adopted a baby (like a movie star, doesn't Disney have movie stars :hysterical: ).

If you are that worried about ME, give them another address and cell number. I bet they track records on a phone number (all digital). :D

All what you say is true regarding their systems and especially since I've never booked a DVC stay before. There are five of us and one just over the 3 year age limit. I haven't given any names to DVC yet, when do you actually do this?

I'm not buying the dining plan for all of us. I probably am only going to do counter service (adult X 3 I think) as we have eaten at so many of them in the past and want to tour commando style.

I might also decide to rent a car as we are staying 4 extra nights on the front end which also complicates things. My options are:

- Vacation Village at Parkway for just 8 TPU and $179 -- requires car and reviews of VV are iffy
- Do a timeshare preview at Marriot Cypress Harbour with 7 day Universal tix (value $339) for later use for $499 -- requires a car and a tour
-Stay on Disney property for 4 nights possibly at Port Orleans Riverside if I have to and probably close to $600 -- no car needed but have to work the ME

The last time I checked, I think when you opt for the dining plan that everyone listed in the room has to be on it.

Yes, everyone in the room has to be on the dining plan. If your going to be on the dining plan.

I just won't put everyone on the room. I bought tix from the YES program so I won't be buying them there. VV plus a car might be my best bet anyway.

If you plan to use EMH, or ME, you will need to list everyone.

Honestly, the dining plan, for most people, isn't much of a savings. And, for many, it's an upsell in disguise.

We are pretty experienced Disney people and most would agree that parks with EMH should be avoided like the plague. My touring plans always take this into account so this is not a problem for us. Maybe once our kids are teens and they can go off their own (yikes) but not for now. The interesting thing is that our tickets will not be coded as part of our room so I'm not sure how the EMH would even be handled. These tickets don't even have a finger scan. The Youth Education Series tickets are the old-fashioned cardboard type ones. This is a great program where you can buy highly-discounted tickets that include an educational experience in one of the parks. I spend way too much time on disboards!

I think the dining plan is definitely not for everyone but we enjoy not having to worry about anything while we are there. If the kids want a snack so be it. We always had the regular plan but might decide to try just the counter service this time so maybe my opinion might be different afterward.
