driving from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami

The airfare to Fort Lauderdale is at least $100 less per ticket than the airfare to the Miami airport. I want to take a tour of Costa Rica in late Jan. that leaves from Miami. We want to preface our trip to Costa Rica with a few days in Key West. My question is - is it worth it to fly to FLL and save the money? How can we get from Miami airport to FLL on our return - is there a bus? How is the traffic and how much time does it take?

FLL to MIA is an easy 25-mile drive.

The Florida Coast Tri-Rail Service runs along the coast. The website should provide information about prices and schedule.

Thanks for the info. This really helps! Don't need to pay and extra $200 when we can take the rail for $6.

Airport Shuttle is another option. It is a bus that will pick you up and take you to FLL. Used to be $15, not sure now
