Has anyone have exchange recently into an Orlando westgate?
I heard they are charging "resort fees" but not sure if this apply to II exchangers. Can someone tell based on experience? I am planning a getaway to westgate lakes, I would go elsewhere but they have available the date I am looking for.

Call them and ask. Be sure to get the name of who tells you what, to keep them honest. The gambler in me says they charge any non-retail owner any fee they think they can get away with.

The only resort fee I've read about with Westgate was at their Gatlinburg, TN resort and that was only if you wanted to use their indoor water park. If you didn't want access I don't think you paid the resort fee.

Of course I could be wrong. As a rule we avoid Westgate resorts so I have no first hand experience. I can only go by the fact I haven't read about it on TUG. I'm assuming there is enough discontent with Westgate (also called Wastegate by a few TUGGERS) that it would've posted and discussed somewhere on these forums.

Its has been over a year since there on II exchange.

Best I can recall there was a non-owner charge of about $5.00 a day for WIFI.

And there was non-owner activity card available for purchase. As I recall it included a couple continental breakfasts, all you can eat and beer you can drink bar-b-que and some other activities.

They threw in along with show tickets when I signed up for sales pitch.

Below is from their hotel booking site. If they charge this to those who pay cash, I wouldn't be surprised if they charged this to exchangers through II. II doesn't mention these fees but does suggest you contact the resort to find out if they charge any additional fees. It looks like they will waive the fee's if you go on a sales presentation.

Resort Fee Policy
A $(9.95-15.95) Nightly Resort fee, plus applicable tax, is applied to each hotel reservation that is NOT associated with a Resort Preview (sales presentation) and includes services and amenities that are sure to enhance your experience at the resort. The Nightly Resort Fee includes the following resort services: WiFi Internet Access, Local Calls, Fitness Center, In-Room Safes, Sports Courts Access, Putt Putt Golf, Boarding Pass Printing, Bike Rentals, Sports Equipment Rentals and Movie Theater Access.

I notice that conspicuously absent from the list is parking. Is that free, or yet another charge not covered by the 'resort' fee?

It looks like the 'Nightly Resort Fee" charged to guests who book as a hotel stay may be covered by the $30 Guest Activity Card that exchangers and guests can purchase. I just don't know if it includes wi-fi or not.

I haven't been in a few years, but I believe parking was always free.
