Do UK buyers get 14 days to rescind in Florida?

I just read a post elsewhere from a resident of the UK who said they were told that by Florida law DVC had to give them 14 days to rescind, as opposed to 10 days. I’ve never read that before so was wondering whether it’s Florida law or one of DVC’s many extra allowances. Anyone know?

As far as I understand, the law is based on where you sign the contract and where the timeshare is located. A resident of the UK signing in Florida to purchase a Florida timeshare would be bound to Florida rescission laws (10 days).

I just searched the Florida Timesharing Act for "United Kingdom," "Great Britain," and "England" and got no hits. If there is an exception for UK residents to the ten day rescission period, it's not in the Florida Timesharing Act, which would be very strange.

So, it's ten days as @dioxide45 state.

Thanks, that’s what I thought.

Edited to add, I wonder whether they could have been in the UK when they bought? I’ll ask.

If they’re outside of the 10 day period there’s still no harm in trying to rescind.

This wasn’t anyone wanting to rescind. This was someone who recently bought directly from DVC, adding a post to a discussion trying to clarify for someone else what the difference is between the 10-day right of rescission and DVC’s willingness to let purchasers modify their purchases after that 10-day period is over.

And to further settle the question, the person was in the UK when they bought direct from DVC.

I bought a timeshare based in the UK. The UK has a 14 day cooling off period during which you cannot pay for the timeshare. Only after the 14 days are over can the seller accept payment. This may have been the cause of the poster's confussion.
