I am booking for our trip to DR. On AA, my choices are Main or Main Plus seats. The difference
pay check bag Main yes we get free luggage when using AA CC so don't need it
Main Plus no fee

Main Pay for extra leg room
Plus extra leg room included

The other options don't matter . I am handicap and I usually get on first.

So for the difference of $51 is it cheaper to take the plus or pay for the extra room seat with the Main fare? Thanks

I fly AA all the time and have no idea what main plus is.

It is possible, it is just on international flights.

It is also possible they mean it is "preferred seats" like window, aisle, exit row, bulk head.

Delta has Delta Comfort, which is a bit better, and a clearly identified section of the plane.

Here is what the AA site says, but not really specific with how much more room you get

AAdvantage® status member access

Who gets complimentary Main Cabin Extra seats?

  • AAdvantage Executive Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum Pro® and AAdvantage Platinum® members
  • oneworld® Sapphire and Emerald members with elite status on Alaska Airlines, British Airways, Iberia, Finnair, Qatar Airways or Japan Airlines
All listed members are allowed complimentary access for up to 8 traveling companions on the same reservation.

AAdvantage Gold® and oneworld® Ruby members*

Enjoy complimentary access within 24 hours of departure when seats are available.

(1) I'm cheap and would fly strapped to the wing, but
(B) DW is a comfort-freak and would pay much more.
For what it's worth (2 cents?), do what your SO wants.

Considering that you don't need to pay for luggage since you have the AA credit card, and you usually get on first due to your handicap, it sounds like going for the Main Plus seat with the extra legroom included would be the better option. It saves you the extra cost and gives you the comfort you need.

My SO hasn't a clue what I do. I just tell him when to be packed by and what to bring.

Thanks. Your right.
