At our 2024 tour at Shadow Ridge in PS they mentioned Disney building something across the street.
I thought they meant a park but I also didnt believe them.
Well...looks like they were right.
This would be right behind shadow ridge.
Interesting

When we were in Palm Springs over Christmas and New Year's this past year, you could tell construction was well underway. The Shadow Ridge people were hyping it up, and many were trying to make it sound like a water park. I think the reality is starting to take shape that this will be a community closer to Celebration, FL, with maybe a Downtown Disney attached, rather than Typhoon Lagoon. I don't imagine residents of this community would really welcome too many visitors from outside coming to use their beach.

Will the homes there sell? Absolutely - Disney will market this and extract as much as they can from fans who want to live the dream.

Would I make a trip to Palm Desert to visit an artificially constructed beach (which seems to be the sole "public" feature besides a future shopping district and hotel)? Nope.

I understand there will be a large man made lagoon. Perhaps like I suspect you will probably be able to buy day passes. Perhaps something similar to Evermore in Orlando. Outside of that, for the most part it is a large mater planned community with residential homes and retail space. I doubt it will be over the top Disney, certainly not like the parks. It will probably make Monterey Ave much busier.

I would go to the artificial beach. It's something to do other than golfing, hiking and kicking rocks.

So it’s walkable from Shadow Ridge. Got a reason to book here for our next PS visit.

My sister and her husband bought and built a home in the new Cotino (Disney) development in Rancho Mirage, which is basically across the street from Marriott Shadow Ridge, and were one of the first to move in earlier this year. I have been there several times. Yes, there's a huge lagoon with paddleboats and the like. It's a very nice (and pricey) residential community. I doubt very much whether day passes will be available to the general public (membership in the Cotino club is pretty pricey, $20,000 initiation fee plus $11,000 per year, but those may be available to non-residents at some point.) Edit: it seems that eventually, there will be (paid) public access to a shopping and dining area to be built on the opposite side of the lagoon from the residential neighborhood. Those amenities and the public access do not yet exist.

I do not believe there are plans for a hotel, this is a residential neighborhood.

So they live there now?
Is the lagoon built yet?

Yes, they moved into their new home at the end of April. The lagoon has been there for quite a while now, I think it was filled with water near the end of 2024.

One interesting thing is that this property has its own water source, and the lagoon was filled without using any public water.
