At this point I am really sorry that we ever bought our two timeshares, which are both in Mexico. Vidanta is difficult to trade since their rules for trading are very strict. They have limited trades to once every 5 years
on Intervale and RCI. Also if you want to trade you have to trade your highest priced unit which makes it again difficult to trade. We have been using Vidanta now that Covid is over but if we cant use it in the future, our only option to get any value is to give it to family members or rent it out. We also own at Villa Del Palmar, and we dont go there anymore, but use it to trade to other resorts. However, we find that trading options are limited on Intervale. Mostly we can trade for things like Maine in the winter or Florida in the summer. Very few options for good trades...and very frustrating. Seems like they only have trades that are undesirable....so what's the point? Usually we opt to rent from other timeshare owners if we want something desirable in season, but then we are paying a premium price, so the outlay of cash we spent to buy our 2 timeshares is a waste. I dont see the value of timeshares anymore, and again if I had it to do over, I would have used the money we spent on timeshares, for vacation travel or a second home..and we would have been better off. The only thing that might make sense is buying a timeshare from an owner, but with the caveat of investigating maintenance charges, and thinking realistically about your timeframe of travel etc.

You should rent out your Vidanta, especially if you can reserve a desirable winter week through spring / Easter vacation week.

My friend owns a Villa del Palmar, Los Cabos, and it does not automatically trade well. Basically, you have to trade within 75 - 90? days (or fewer) of check-in, when trade power requirements are reduced. Set up an ongoing search, and also search online. Adapt, and you will succeed. It will take persistence.

Where do you want to go, and when?
