Diamond Resorts claims to have a transition program to eliminate ownership. Does anyone know the details to qualify? Do they also charge $1,000 to do the legal work?
Yup $1000 fee per contract... up from $250 in 2018 ... many have posted online about success. No resale. US and HI collections only.Diamond Resorts claims to have a transition program to eliminate ownership. Does anyone know the details to qualify? Do they also charge $1,000 to do the legal work?
@chapjim It's resale so you dont qualify... as stated in your own post

On my page when I log on to the DRI website it has the additional requirement:Come on, Dave. I know what I said.
I meet all the requirements as stated on DRI's website. I see nothing about resale or retail.
If you see where DRI says resales are disqualified, please point it out. I don't see it.
Conditions to Apply:
Where applicable, if you meet the Conditions to Apply for Transitions, Diamond Resorts will consider your application on a case-by-case basis, reviewing it both on its own merits and in the context of all other qualifying Transition applications submitted to date. This program is subject to change or termination without notice and in the sole discretion of Diamond Resorts.
- You must have no existing loan balance or other lien encumbering the vacation ownership.
- You must be current on the payment of all maintenance fees up to the year for which you are relinquishing.
- You must have a clear and free title to the vacation ownership.
- All future reservations must be cancelled or traveled on prior to submitting a request. Does not apply to certain Fixed Week/Fixed Unit deeded week owners who have their reservation automatically booked in advance. Please call the Transitions team on 1.855.342.3689 for more information.
- Your vacation ownership must be in a Diamond Resorts Collection or managed property. Currently, members who own in the EU Collection do not qualify.
- You must have purchased your vacation ownership directly from Diamond Resorts or from a predecessor whose developer rights were acquired by Diamond Resorts. Members and owners who have inherited or been gifted a vacation ownership from family will qualify if their family members would have qualified.
- Participation with a timeshare exit or resale company or firm may negatively impact your ability to apply for Transitions.
- The enrollment and completion in the Transitions program will negate your ability to be added to the Embarc Repurchase program list. In addition, if you are already on the repurchase list, your position will be forfeited upon completion of Transitions.
Well you wrote that resale doesn't apply, last point under conditions As i posted earlier, your resale won't qualifyCome on, Dave. I know what I said.

Try again... different reading glasses maybe? You wrote it clear as day. Your 6th starred pointI didn't write that resale doesn't apply. I wrote that DRI's website didn't say anything about resale and from what I saw and copied here, that was 100% correct. I understand that retail is a necessary condition for DRI's Transitions program. If DRI's website had indicated that when I looked, there would have been no issue.
Good you found the resale part resales don't qualify, as you wrote. That's what negatively impact meansNo, Dave, YOU try again. The sixth point you're seeing is not in my post. It's in tschwa2's post. Too many slap shots to the mask, maybe?
Here is the sixth bullet in my post: Participation with a timeshare exit or resale company or firm may negatively impact your ability to apply for Transitions.
Exactly. People often are intimidated or can't understand what they read. Just call and ask ... especially Diamond, many success stories posted.costs nothing to email and ask..resale or not.
these policies have changed quite frequently in the short 3 year existence of this program.
To save money some are giving $hundreds cash plus paying transfer costs to buyers.I am glad I gave back my resale week early when it was only $250, though $1000 is still less then what MFs were.
