i got full upper and lower immediate dentures last October. Just had the reline done couple of weeks ago. Uppers stay sucked in very tight, lowers I still have to use the goopy stuff but not as much. My question is regarding wearing the suckers!:D How long does it take to get used to wearing them? its been 6 months now and after having them in for 5 to 6 hours I can't wait to rip them out of my mouth. They don't hurt, but my mouth just feels exhausted from having them in. Does it ever get better?

I don't know what an 'exhausted' mouth feels like. I forget all about my dentures as long as they are tight. I use Poly-Grip powder. No ooze or taste. It lasts well over 24 hours for me. I really can't stand the gooey minty stuff.

Oh, you asked 'How long?' I was told that your gums will continue to heal and shrink for about 10 months and will need periodic relining to be comfortable. My experience was exactly that. Mine have needed nothing since the 'permanent' reline just under a year after I got them. I'd like to get a second set so I could alternate them. Maybe a nice couple of weeks in Mexico with the cost offset by dental work would be a good excuse...

I guess I must be more than used to them, 'cause I can't stand to be without them and never have felt comfortable without 'em. Not that I am happier with dentures than my natural teeth, but they are infinitely more comfortable than when the decision had to be made to get them.

I have a full upper denture and partial lower. I don't use anything with them. They feel very comfortable and I wear them all the time. Because the OP had immediate dentures, his gums are probably still adjusting. I never had immediate ones.

Thanks for your posts. Guess I will have to hope they get better as mouth continues to adjust and heal. I like the powder better than the goopy stuff but the powder doesn't hold the bottom teeth in for very long before they come loose. Especially when I eat, they pop loose right away. The goopy stuff lasts longer. The uppers, I don't use anything with and they stay put very well.
