Resorts Owned
Sheraton Vistana Village (KeyWest)
I just called the Vistana "exit" phone line. My goal is to get out of my timeshare. I own a Platinum VSN season, Prime Home season, VSN Member, "Odd year float" in Key WestVistana Villlages 2BR.
The yearly maint fees seem to be going up to $760/yr. Even though i'm a "Odd year" owner, I pay both years.

Overall, we have enjoyed going to many places (Florida, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii) with this timeshare, but with the family grown, we are not using this large place anymore and doubt we will use it in the future.
Rather than pay the $760/yr, I would rather bank that toward smaller places and a wider variety.

I see the tug2.com and tug2.net sites as well as this site to sell my ownership.

Vistana is making this easy for me to 'transfer' out, without any fees. Or i could try to sell this via sites like this or the tug sites.

Opinions?

Your ownership will transfer on the resale market to a new owner with the ability to use StarOptions. Most Vistana resorts DO NOT transfer on the resale market that way.

Based on your ownership description you should have 81,000 or 95,700 StarOptions each odd year.

Someone will pay something for it, maybe $1000, based on what I have seen annual 81,000 SO at Vistana Villages go for.

If the deed is paid off, you may be able to sell it, because the Staroptions will transfer to the new owner. At most Vistana resorts, this is not the case. However, you will only get a modest amount for it - that's just the nature of timeshare resales.

9) What do Mandatory and Voluntary mean?

a. If a resort is Staroption "Mandatory," it means that when the week is sold to a new owner (resale) the Staroption value of the week transfers to the new owner, and the new owner has the right to exchange his timeshare in the Starwood Vacation Network. These resorts are Staroption Mandatory:

* Harborside at Atlantis
* Vistana Villages (Bella and Key West phases only)
* Westin St. John (Virgin Grand - Hillside only)
* Westin Ka'anapali & Westin Ka'anapali-North
* Westin Kierland Villas

b. If a resort is Staroption "Voluntary," it means that the Staroption value of the week DOES NOT transfer to the new owner when it is resold, and the new owner DOES NOT have the right to exchange his timeshare in the Starwood Vacation Network.

Awesome. My deed it fully paid off and has been for 15+ years. Yes it is 81,000 Staroptions or 126,000 Points.

So where is the best place to put it on the market? This forum or one of those other TUG sites?
