I would love if anyone can assist/guide us in the process of changing the names on our deeds following a recent divorce. We own both "destination points" and "weeks" and need to change the names to divide the properties into individual ownerships. The weeks owned are here in the US as well in Spain with MVCI. If anyone has gone through or can help point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

I think LT Transfers in Georgia can help with most of that, but I’m not sure about Spain. But I’m pretty sure they will know where you have to go to make that change too.

I could be wrong but I don’t think you can easily make the deed changes through MVC, I think you need an external company to handle the title work, which is why I recommend LT Transfers. They are very familiar with the Marriott procedures and will help ensure that everything happens properly and that neither of you loses the benefits you get if you purchased from the developer.

Divorced are difficult enough and they will make it as easy as it can be. And hopefully they can help direct you on the Spain property; those might be “right to use” contracts rather than seeds, and it’s possible you can change those directly with MVC.

Usually in this type of situation the person giving up the property will usually just sign a quit claim deed over to the other. This transfers their ownership over. You may be better to use a warranty deed and have the ex and you sign it over to whomever is taking over the ownership. Spain should be a little easier since there is no deed or recording, best to call Owner Services about how to handle that.

This is the timeshare title company that I use - they are Tuggers, they get high marks on TUG, and they are efficient and inexpensive.
