Current time required for Marriott/ Vistana transfers?

The seller of our week we bought through RW contacted us to say that the week that he put into our names was cancelled. We paid the maintenance fees for 2025 as part of our closing costs. Vistana informed the seller that the week was cancelled in the process of transfer, but it was in our names, and we are the ones buying the week.

This is going to be a week we lose, apparently, because I understand that it takes four months for transfer. The week is a fixed week, week 10. We planned to use the week ourselves for 2025.

Vistana has no ability to help me because the transfer hasn't occurred yet. The seller cannot help me because the transfer is in process. We are in limbo. We are doing the limbo walk, but how low can Vistana go?

It's a darn good thing that when you buy a house, a much bigger purchase, that you can move into it within days. Why does it take Vistana/ Marriott four months to transfer a week, and why do we accept this answer, when we ask how long this transfer will take. What kind of process does this transfer have to go through, when we paid for title insurance and already know the week is paid off. It's ridiculous.

If it's a fixed week, how can it be cancelled? What happened to the actual reservation? Can you not make one for another date in 2026 once the VOI is in your name with Vistana?

Marriott/ Vistana, same transfer people.

I paid for 2025, week 10 use. My name was on it. The owner received an email from Vistana saying it was cancelled. It was cancelled by Vistana/ Marriott during the transfer process. It's in limbo. No reservation # anymore. It's weird. It's Maui, so I am very concerned we won't have our week to use.

LTT was handling the closing.
They contacted Marriott
It is part of their “process” of closing but the reservation was not actually canceled And it did transfer with the sale.

contact your closing company to straighten it out.
If it is LTT, they have a relationship with the department.

It's Fidelity on Oahu. Rick left a message 9 days ago with the closing agent. No call back yet. I wish we could have used LT Timeshares. This was not a free week, and LT cannot hold escrow for Hawaii sales.

I adjusted our weeks to accommodate this one, so I hope all goes well. Vistana won't talk to the current owner and won't talk to me as the new owner. Limbo. It's really all so frustrating.

Thank you for your info on the week 7 because that is how the current owner said it would work during the transfer, but he is concerned as well because four months to transfer gives me no time to cover our week with another one, should it not transfer to us as it should.

My concern is that even though we paid in full via wire transfer on 9/12/2024, the closing didn't occur until 11/6/2024, which is also the date Fidelity sent the paperwork to Marriott. If the transfer takes 4 months, the week starts 3/8/2025. This delay is going to be expensive for us, if they don't get the week in our names. We reimbursed fees to use the week and thought it was a guarantee.

That was exceptionally fast. Our week 10 just transferred to us. Less than six weeks for Vistana's process. I am in awe. We also have the week 10 reservation available to us for use for 2025. This is amazing.

Still waiting for the one we bought 2 months before this one to transfer.

I am also starting a transfer with Vistana where I have prepaid for a 2025 reservation
Looks like I have another issue to look forward to.

I strongly like Marriott/Vistana resorts
I hate (or at least very strongly dislike) most of their sales staff, their IT and their transfer procedures--their customer service reps are always pleasant but often not very effective

Vistana did a great job with our week. They transferred it very quickly. I am so happy to have our week in our name. It was a week 10, it is fixed for that week, the transfer time on TUG was reported to be 3-4 months, but it didn't take that long. I just hope the next one goes this well.

I am thrilled.

Perhaps they pushed it ahead given your circumstance and prior communication on the cancelled reservation issue?
