I made an Abound reservation for next year for a 'standard' 2 bdrm unit ( lower floors 3-5). Other choices were poolside or island side for a few hundred more points.

DH and I don't usually prioritize spending more for view. We don't mind having palm trees blocking our balcony, but rather not be in a dark shaded corner or face parking lot. Is it better to spend a few hundred more points to get a pool or island view?
Are island view types on higher floors?

Thanks!

What time of the year. Thinking about orientation. The pool views are more likely to get sun in the winter months in the AM. They are all pretty shaded by afternoon. The island views are more likely to get all day sun in the summer months. It is also possible. I don't have the resort orientation correct when thinking North, South, East and West.

Thx Dioxide. I wasn't considering the sun orientation. Our reservation is for mid November next year. I'm thinking island views would get morning sun only if they faced inland east.

Well...you would definitely be facing the parking lot of the Hilton next door. And in November you'll be in more or less constant shade - that side of the building faces almost due north. Island View has the same orientation (just on a higher floor). Meanwhile, Pool Side faces West or South, depending on which wing of Egret they put you in.

So if you are keen on having sun stream into your villa, choose Pool Side (high or low).

Unfortunately the Island Views face north. There are no east facing views at Crystal Shores. In November, the sun is mostly going to be on the south side of the tower given the orientation of the sun and the tilt axis of the earth.

This video does a good job of showing the view locations-

Also if you put crystal shores into the search bar you will find other threads and also photos of views- I found a bunch searching for my upcoming trip.

Does anyone know how many units per floor.
The drawing makes it look like 3 in the yellow (oceanfront) for instance.
Is that real or just a drawing style?
In the Osprey Tower, (original building) there are six per floor. Three that are oceanfront and three that aren't. So that drawing that looks like three, really is three.

For Egret Tower, the north south facing section has 10 on each floor (five per side). For the east west facing section there are four villas per floor all facing west.

So for oceanfront it is 2 end unit’s with split bedroom floor plan and 1 in the center with the bedrooms together?

That is correct. Corner units have the living room between the bedrooms and a wrap around balcony.

Side look of my high floor island view 2 bedroom. The terrace was large and the lounge chairs faced the camera view.
