Sorry if this has been discussed before, could not find a relavent thread. Are you able to assign a Guest Certificate to a Cruise? any one know? I believe from the information I have read, this is not available for guests of owners... but I could be mistaken.

We sent our son and his 3 friends on a 3-day cruise using WYN points about 2 years ago (not a cost effective use of the points BTW). We had no difficulty getting their names on the reservations. It's all handled through a 3rd-party service provider.

Once you book, you're stuck for the reservations. If you change your mind, you loose the points. In addition to the points usage there are also additional fees, taxes, etc so not all travel is paid using the points.

Don't recommend using points for cruises. We've done it but won't do it again.

Did you have to assign a guest certificate for your son and his friends? Other than Gratuities, were there any other fees involved? I understand that it is not a wise use of points... but still interested in information, thank you very much!

Basically you just hand over points through the Plus Partners "Benefits" Program. Once WYN verifies that you have enough AVAILABLE points to hand off to the 3rd Party reservation group it has nothing to do with "Guest" certificates. The reservation group will put anyone's name on the reservation you want. Regardless of who is traveling YOU would still be the fiscally responsible party specifically for the expense of the cruise. Incidental expenses incurred are out of pocket by the individuals doing the traveling.

And yes, there are additional reservation fees involved to "transfer" the points to the 3rd party. All taxes are paid outside of points via whatever payment method the 3rd party accepts.

Plus Partners:
# PlusPartners reservation may be requested from 10 months to 60 days in advance of travel/redemption. (Platinum VIP Members may make reservations 10 months to 45 days in advance of travel/redemption.)
# Members may rent additional points needed for PlusPartners Travel Partners at a cost of $10 per 1,000 points at 90 days or less from the date of travel/redemption
# Borrowing points is not an option for PlusPartners Travel Partners
# Pool Credits are not eligible for PlusPartners Travel Partners.
# There is a $59 fee per reservation.
# Taxes and fees are not included in point totals unless otherwise advised are collected at the time of redemption.
# Cancellation policies vary based on the individual partner and may include 100% forfeiture of points.
# Membership in PlusPartners requires a separate enrollment. Additional enrollment, program assessment, and transaction fees apply.

Cruise Partners Through Plus Partners:
* Members are responsible for transportation to departure location, any additional charges, government fees, beverages which are not part of the regular menu, express mail charges if necessary or requested, and other ancillary items not explicitly mentioned as "included."
* Reservations are subject to availability and may exclude holidays and special sailings.
* Days of the week, dates, itineraries and ships are all subject to change without notice.
* Cruises can be booked between 10 months and 60 days from the sailing date. (45 days for Platinum VIP Members)
* Points may be rented 91 days or more from the sailing date at a rate of $10 per 1,000 up to the number of CLUB WYNDHAM® Plus Points owned. Points may also be rented for cruises 90 days or less from the sailing date at the rate of $10 per 1,000. Points may not be borrowed from the following year.
* Cruises must be paid in full at the time of booking with points. A credit card may only be used for the payment of taxes, insurance and points rental.
* Cancellations may be subject to penalties in accordance with the cruise line selected. Please ask your PlusPartners representative for details.
* Cruise documentation will be mailed to you approximately seven (7) days prior to sailing date.
* Other PlusPartners program rules and restrictions will apply.
