Hi,
We are looking for a timshare rental in Cape Cod area during Aug 16- 23 and found this (1 BR but no kitchen). Good reviews on TA.

Any of you have any experience with this resort ?

Thanks
Kush

It's just OK. Many of the units are a bit small and there is no kitchen, other than a community one with a microwave. It's a very busy traffic area, particularly in the summer weeks.

There's not many luxury accommodations on Cape Cod. The Cove at Yarmouth is on a busy busy commercial street, however, it's a central location, clean with a Limited Kitchen (no cooking except in a microwave). Plenty of places to eat nearby in Hyannis and elsewhere. We love the place.

Cove at Yarmouth

There's not many luxury accommodations on Cape Cod. The Cove at Yarmouth is on a busy busy commercial street, however, it's a central location, clean with a Limited Kitchen (no cooking except in a microwave). Plenty of places to eat nearby in Hyannis and elsewhere. We love the place.

But the resort seem to have lot of things to do for kids which is what attracted us to this place. So, if this is on a busy street, are the pools and units tucked away or can we hear all the hustle of the busy street from inside?

Thanks !

I don't use the pools so I can't comment. I never remembered hearing street noise in the units. For a more rural setting you could try Sea Mist in Mashpee.

Although busy in summer (as are all Cape Cod roads in season) the road is only a 2 lane, 35 mph drive. Once you turn off the main road you hear virtually no sounds from that.

The resort is one of the few built as a timeshare not a converted motel or apartment complex. Because of that it features many common areas, activities and amenities. Two pools (indoor & outdoor), indoor & outdoor tennis, picnic areas, exercise rooms, a full sports & activities building, and much more.

It is very convenient to virtually anything you may wish to do. While they can't have full kitchens by town ordinance there is a nice kitchen area with small refrigerator, microwave and toaster. With all the great restaurants around, including a nice one on site, you'll not go hungry and can easily rehat any leftovers or prepare a breakfast in the unit.

It was all renovated within the past 4 years. It is very well maintained, great location and you'd likely enjoy any stay.

I agree, no noise from the road, a good place for kids.

We had a 2-week stay a couple summers ago. (2nd week not planned - we had a medical emergency and had to extend for a week, during which time the staff was beyond fabulous, wonderful, amazing ... and btw location turned out to be perfect because it's so close to Cape Cod's hospital!)

So we stayed in both kinds of units: 1-floor and townhouse. The 1-floor units had privacy for 4, whereas the townhouse has a loft bedroom that's somewhat open to the bottom floor, not private. Our townhouse overlooked the indoor pool, which is in a large indoor atrium, so kids could play there while being watched by parents from their units. But you have a bit of pool noise, and no outside light in those units. I don't know whether you'll have a choice in unit type.

They did have some activities there and the staff was quite good. Are the microwaves now in all units ? My big draw to stay there was the restaurant next door - Clancy's, which is no longer there.

Yes, every room has a microwave now. Too bad about Clancy's - we always enjoyed it too. The Italian place that replaced it is clean & well priced but I'm not impressed overall with their food. Still there are many many good and even great places to eat all around the area.

Completely agree with you. Very nice place to spend quality time with your family..:banana::banana:

Chlorine odor

The unit we had a few years ago had a strong chlorine odor from the indoor pool. We also found the restaurant to be rather dark and uninviting. Were we to go back, we would ask for a unit that is some distance from the indoor pool.

The 3 views that are available are Waterview (hard to get unless 2 years out), Woodland and Atrium (looks over the indoor pool).

The supply of timeshares on Cape Cod is very thin. None are going to compare to the nicer timeshares that you might find in a place like Hilton Head (or Orlando etc). There is very strict zoning on much of the Cape and land supply, prices and building restrictions have kept the number of timeshare developments down.

So, the pickings are slim and the Cove at Yarmouth is one of the better timeshare properties on the cape. The units are newly renovated. The lobby staff are nice. And it has relatively good amenities (pool, tennis, etc).

That said, We stayed there last fall and didn't love the place.

What I didn't like: All units are one bedrooms (nothing bigger) . No full kitchens. Our unit faced the interior pool, so no outside light or view. And, I think it is located in the least charming areas of Cape Cod. The resort is on a very un-scenic, congested road lined with motels and fast food type restaurants. The resort is not really on the water but it is next to an inlet. Few units have any type of water view. You must drive to the beach. The place had a sort of a 1980's feel to it - but renovated and updated.

Really, the best way to stay on Cape Cod is to rent a cottage/house from an owner or agency. The supply of hotels and timeshares is limited and quality generally lacking. However, if you are choosing among Cape Cod timeshares, the Cove is a good choice.
