Costco ATT program

And yet I discovered the answer in 20 seconds searching online.

Something I should not have to do with a major Corporation and it's Representative.

I am going to have to visit the local TMobile and ask about Starlink - how much per month, can you add and drop it easily depending on where you travel.

I agree with you. You shouldn't have to do this. Yet if you did, you would save yourself time and effort, be less frustrated during an international trip, and have more confidence in your service.

We have had numerous threads in recent years on TUG about the changing service quality at many companies. This is just another example - IMHO, none of us should rely upon any customer service or representative of a company. I had this experience myself a few weeks ago after talking with a rep from a major bank…who assured me my request would be handled in a specific process, and ultimately - of course - was not. Why are any of us surprised when we realize these employees just aren't all reliable?

So, once again, in order to minimize disruption and set proper expectations, I recommend doing your own independent research and not relying on any company representative whenever possible.

I understand your frustration with the situation you had
In today's world, most customer service reps do not stay on the job long enough to become familiar with all of the small but important details of the product
I continuously repeat all day about how "the devil is in the details" and very few people representing their company understand the details

Amen to that

Completed the upgrade of my phone to the iPhone 17 Pro Max through the Costco ATT program
As is usual, the first month's bill from ATT is terrifying
Activation fee of $35 is charged
There is no $5.00 discount ($50 spread over 10 months)
The phone monthly payment is $33.79
Wait for the dust to settle and the next month billing has reversed the $35 activation fee
There is a $10 discount for 2 months at $5 a month
There is a notice that they have received my old phone, inspected it and will begin rebating back $30.55 ($1100/36) monthly
They also note they will retroactively rebate back to date of upgrade

Costco emailed my $100 spend card yesterday

Already transferred to my Costco Wallet

Everything received as promised using Costco ATT third party representatives to upgrade my iPhone at the Costco ATT kiosk

Hadn’t even thought of doing so before this thread but I switched from Consumer Cellular (CC) to T-Mobile.

For an increase of about $15/month total, I went from 10GB of data split between all four lines with CC to 50GB data per line, $300 in cash cards and four new iPhone 17s. Unlike CC, there is no fee for exceeding the data usage (just slower data). All in all, it seemed like a no brainer since we needed new phones (two iPhone 10s and two iPhone 6s).

Did you do it through Costco T-Mobile Kiosk or Directly with T-Mobile

I have found if I want a new phone every 3 years, the majors pricing is competitive

In your case, it sounds like T-Mobile was more than competitive

How do those 17s work compared to the 6s
Probably a little faster on the apps

The Consumer Cellular plan I just got has unlimited data.

For the free phones the fine print stated eligible port-ins were AT&T, Verizon, Claro, UScellular, Xfinity, Spectrum, and Liberty PR. I was with Consumer Cellular. When I entered my phone number at the website it said it was eligible and allowed me to proceed to check out to get the free phones and service. However, I went to the Costco kiosk because of the free activation and $300 shop card. Despite the website saying my lines were eligible the rep said that CC wasn’t listed as an eligible port-in so they refused to help me. I then went to the Sam’s Club kiosk (same free activation and $300 shop card) and they were able to make it happen.

My sons had the 6’s. The newer phones are much quicker and also have 256GB compared to 64GB. They are also much bigger phones. They are very happy with the upgrade. They are also a big upgrade from the 10’s. My XR was on its last legs (would get very hot).

Being a school bus driver, I would occasionally find a phone left on my bus by one of my middle schoolers and I noticed that these phones were always at least 4 generations newer than my phone. Thanks to this thread, I have caught up to them in tech.
