Costa del sol, Spain?

Has anyone successfully traded into any of the resorts in Southern Spain recently? There are several options and I am wondering which resort to request for next July. I am trading a Hyatt.
Appreciate any advice!

Can't help with resort suggestions, other than having exchanged into one in Cambrils, S. of Barcelona, (it was just OK), but a word of caution. July on Spain's Costa Del Sol is FLAMIN' HOT. There's good reason they invented gazpacho!

How hot are you thinking? I have been following Marbella on my weather app for a while and it looks better than Iowa. We have had high 90's to 105! UGH! And their humidity looks more tolerable as well?

Your tolerance may be better than mine. We are not used to 100ish temp & humidity. Spain, in general has hot summers. The royal family decamps from Madrid in Summer for the summer palace in San Sebastian on the N. coast.

I hate 100ish temps and humidity as well! Any other areas of Europe with beautiful beaches, milder weather and great timeshares we should consider?

Nothing against Spain, just July in Europe in general. That's when Europeans take their generous vacations, and the usual tourist sites are mobbed with Americans. Go to Europe in May or September. Go to Cape Cod or Vancouver in July.

As Passepartout says, if you aren't tied to going to southern Spain, or anywhere in Europe, in July or August then you will have a much better vacation experience. If you are tied to then, then the two MVCs near Malaga are a great choice for beach-side locations though neither has what would be considered a great beach. Not a lot to say preference of one or another, both good.
Inventory in II for Europe is somewhat limited and while there are many beautiful places, great timeshares of the standard of Hyatt are not widely available, arguably not at all. There are a couple of II codes for the four season on the Algarve, which would be excellent, if inventory comes available.
There are 2 other MVCs in Europe:
- France: about 25 miles to the east of Paris, which is close to Disneyland but in a very nice part of France, well worth exploring and you can day-trip to Paris on the train. If Disney does it for you then there is that too, but it is easy to avoid it.
- Mallorca (Spanish Island in the Med): An inland golf course resort with a very nice spa pool, 2 story townhouse accommodation so you have a garden with some villas havng an upstairs terrace and there is a Marriott Autograph collection hotel on site. A car is recommended as there is nothing within walking distance and a great deal to see all round the Island.

We stayed at Marriott’s Marbella resort several years ago and enjoyed it and the location. It was a good base from which to explore several of the other towns by car.

Portugal !!! Algarve has lots of timeshare..Villamoura Four Seasons is nice and Carvoeiro is a cute town with a TS..name escapes me but nice. This is RCI.

Unfortunately May and September are out for us due to my husband's job. We were planning on fitting in Portugal too so I will look at TS there as well. Thanks for the input!

Or go to European mountains in July! Italy, France, Switzerland have the Alps. Scandinavia. We traded into a timeshare in Denmark one summer that was right on the coast, and the beaches were spectacularly beautiful, which I didn't expect (close enough to Copenhagen for daytrips too). The further north you get, the more daylight you'll have, and the more you'll get to see and do. Or temperate places such as the island of Madeira. Northern coast of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Even the island of Sardinia has cooler summers than most of southern Europe's coast - plus very pretty beaches btw. If you really want Mediterranean countries though in July, Portugal isn't usually as hot as Spain, and especially Atlantic coast. Or coast of France where at least the mountains are pretty close to the coast, so you can get there fast if the heat's getting to you. These are all places we've exchanged to. We love beaches too, but mostly haven't wanted to allocate too much time to them after traveling that far, when US has so many beautiful beaches and when there's so much else in Europe to see.

It's stunning and we have been 4 times! Tie it in with a stay in Lisbon. It's a great island with lots to see good food, scenery and culture.

Thank you! We were thinking we would do this prior to Southern Spain but maybe we just need to focus on Madeira and Lisbon. I like this idea!
