Hi folks,

I was asked a question recently about budgeting for a week at the Royal Sands that I didn't quite know how to answer, so I thought I would see what you experienced Royals visitors think:

How much would you say you spend on average on meals per person for the week when staying at one of the Royals in Cancun? What about for a child? I know this is variable, but if you had to give a rough estimate? What do you think the meal price range at their restaurants is?

Also, does anyone remember if they have a kid's menu at the restaurants at the Royal Sands?

Thanks for your input on this!
Barbara

We don't eat out as we go and buy groceries when we are down there. But the cost of meals at the Royal Sands are roughly about $5-8 for children for all meals. For adults $5-10 for Breakfast, $6-12 for lunch and $12-30 for dinner. They do have breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets which I want to say breakfast and lunch is about $12 a person and dinner is usually $20-30 dependent on the theme, kids are half of the adult price.

Last year they did open the Deli at the Sands and we were able to feed our family of 7 for about $30 with left-overs with a take out meal that was quite yummy. I believe it was a roasted chicken with ribs and several sides.

We ate every meal for a full week in restaurants both at the Sands and in the Hotel Zone. Not one meal was cooked in the villa. We had One adult and 2 teens.

Our total food and beverage bill at the Royal Sands was just under $500 .Our restaurant bill for dinners eaten out in the Hotel Zone was $375

So, $875 for the full week of eating and drinking and tipping.

6 adults at the Royals Sands in October $1,200 US total. We only ate one meal away from the Royal resorts.
We usually only eat two meals per day. We ate a lot of meals that were under 10 dollars. The beef dip and the chicken quesadilla were excellent at the Royal Sands.

Its all going to depend on individual consumption levels and style.
Are you a frugal diner or Extravagent?
Will you order apptizer, soup, salad, entree and dessert or just a main entree?
Wine or several drinks with your meal or just water?
The good news is the Royals and Cancun in general offers many choices and options in dining that makes it right for just about everyone.
I have not been to Cancun Post Wilma and I expect prices have increased
some but befor Wilma prices were about equal to what I would pay at home
in Arizona.

I tried the take out service at the Caribbean for the first time on my recent stay and found the food was very good and very reasonable. Too bad I had already gone and did my grocery shopping or I would have ordered more takeout meals.

kids under 6 or 7 are free at the breakfast buffet at the Caribbean.. :whoopie:
and 6 or 7 to 12 are 1/2 price!
