Cookie sheets are apparently a "specialty item"

I'm at Governors Green this week, got a 2BR DLX unit in building 17. It's not an accessible unit, but has an accessible oven installed in it. No digital display at all (no timer either), all knobs and oven control, which is also a knob, the controls are on the front face right above the oven door, Really odd range.

AND the unit did not have cookie sheets. Universally at every resort i've ever been to, there is a rectangular cookie sheet and a round one for a pizza.

This unit has neither. I've been to Governors Green no less than 6 previous times, maybe more, and have never run into this. So like I always do when I need something, I called guest services and was told that cookie sheets were a "specialty item" and they didn't have any more to give out.
I was puzzled by this response, and asked if this was a new thing, mentioning that i've been here many times and this was never an issue in the past.

Silence.

Followed by "is there anything else I can help you with".

Has anyone else run into this before? This was a first.

Also this resort has the "bulk bathroom supplies" and this was the first time I have experienced that. They are fine, except I hate body wash and need soap bars. I asked if they have any, and they apparently do not. I thought I had heard that they were keeping soap bars if requested. Well, not at governors green anyway. Maybe that's a "specialty item" as well.

After 40+ years of T/S ownership, I am no longer "an owner"
At Wyndham Sea Garden last week, we had the two as you described . . . the rectangular cookie sheet plus a round pizza pan.

i;ve been an owner a long time and every unit i've ever been in that has an oven has had at least one rectangle and one round cookie sheet. This baffles me and better not be "the new normal".

Very short sighted. Courteous guests put cookie sheets under things that might bubble up and overflow in the oven. I see lots of oven cleaning on the horizon for cleaning staff at this resort.

I'll have to check the next time we are in a timeshare unit. I don't ever remember seeing a cookie sheet.

We've always seen a baking sheet and pizza pan in our Club Wyndham stays (only a few resorts so far). Other systems (Marriott and Vistana) usually don't have them. Though some resorts have at least a baking sheet. Never seen a pizza pan though I have seen pizza wheels for cutting.

As for why they may not have anymore to give out, I wonder if they don't give them out and then people leave them in the unit. Housekeeping doesn't pull them and thus they are now just scattered among different units throughout the property.

I got a very similar response when I wanted a corkscrew at HGV Marbrisa, was told its not a standard item for the units... That was a first for me.. Every other resort I have been too came with a corkscrew. At least with that I was able to take my wine to the bar and get them to open it for me.. Hard to do that with a cookie sheet

Now corkscrews I have found everywhere we've stayed. :)

I am surprised. I think we always have had all of the above (and have stayed at countless different Wyndham's). Round for pizza, rectangular cookie sheet, and a cork screw. It's possible we didn't have them, but usually items we use (esp the cookie sheets).

Not having something to put under a Pizza in the oven is going to lead to quite the messes in the bottom of the oven. And frustration when wanting to reheat pizza.

But most all frozen pizzas suggest baking directly on the rack without a pan.

I'm thinking reheating delivery pizza, it's floppy and stuff just falls off without support.

I gotta say that’s disappointing. So far any of the timeshares brands I have been in Club Whyndam are the best as far as kitchen amenities. Our first Wyndham stay was immediately following DVC VGC and I was shocked at how well the units were equipped. Last months trip to MGV was nice but wow the kitchen was ridiculously bad.

A couple years ago when we were staying at Ocean Walk the front desk person insisted that pizza cutters weren't and hadn't been standard kitchen tools in the units. DH admirably refrained from calling her an idiot. He called housekeeping and one was delivered to our door in under 10 minutes. That person just shook her head and rolled her eyes when DH told her what the front desk person told him.

At one resort they told us they were completely out of both cookie sheets and pizza pans. I told them they had two options. A manager could drive to Walmart and use the discretionary funds meant for situations like this to buy some or we could go buy them and they could reimburse us. I told her i would wait on the line while she talked to a manager to see what they wanted to do. Lo and behold they miraculously found the pans and they were delivered to our unit within 15 minutes max.

Unfortunately all too often the front desk people will lie to your face rather than take a couple minutes to actually do their job. If you find a housekeeping person who doesn't have much or any English we've been pretty successful with pantomiming.

Pro tip. If the colander is missing and you have to call down to ask for one, dont call it a colander. Call it a spaghetti strainer or the thing with holes that you use to drain stuff. Lol, we still laugh about that. Apparently colander is an old school term the younger people don't know.

Not a cookie sheet or colander, or even a timeshare, but I have a great story. My daughter and I were at a nice hotel in Geneva, Switzerland. We notice there was no rubber mat for the bathtub shower. I called the front desk and was told one would be sent right up. Well they brought up another bath mat, which is more like a towel. Not what we needed. Called down to the front desk again and again another bath mat was sent up. Third time to the front desk and I must have explained better what we needed. A few minutes later the front desk clerk came up with a rubber bath mat. I really think he went out and bought one for us, lol.

Fry pan on the stovetop; will crisp up the shell
That works for me. Actually so does cold pizza right from the fridge, especially if it is thick crust and extra cheesy! Cliff can’t do cold pizza, or leftover birthday cake with lots of frosting roses for breakfast for that matter. We are incompatible that way!

We were at a Homewood Suites that didn't have an oven; we totally used the fry pan on the stovetop method.

Both a cookie sheet and a pizza pan at Wyndham Austin in a Studio Deluxe.

Is it still a cookie sheet if you bake fries on it?

... though I suppose the jury is still out if you bake them in a frying pan (metal handle preferred).
