Hello! We're trying to help out my mom with her timeshare. She currently has almost 15k "saved by Hilton" points for 2022. Do those HAVE to be converted to RCI? She already has about 80k in converted RCI points.
She said she would prefer to convert to honors points because she can use them for her onesie/twosie night stays but she didn't know how silly that would be as a loss. She hasn't been able to travel for health reasons so she's accumulated a lot of points so we just don't know what to do. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

If she’s not using her points, she really should consider selling.

SHE NEEDS TO TAKE ACTION TODAY
  1. SAVED POINTS can‘t convert to Honors points.
  2. Her 2022 SAVED POINTS can only be deposited into RCI but it must be completed prior to December 31, 2022 11:59 p.m. ET
  3. Her 2023 POINTS can be converted to Honor points at a higher conversion rate for ”by Hilton“ resort (1 to 50 32) but the request must be made in 2022 (prior to December 31, 2022 11:59 p.m. ET)
NOTE: Points deposited into RCI Points will eventually expire. She should let family members use them before she loses them.

Save Points.

Prior to December 31, 11:59 p.m. ET of the current year, Members may “Save” any portion of the remaining current year ClubPoints from expiring by depositing these ClubPoints into the following year’s account. A flexible Save Points schedule is available with a variable fee structure starting from January 1 to August 31, September 1 to November 30 and December 1 to December 31, 11:59 p.m. ET. The later in the year Members save Points, the fee increases as detailed in the Club Fee Schedule. Saved Points may only be used for reservations at Club Resorts during the Home Resort and Club reservation windows, for Hilton Club Priority Reservations, for Exchange reservations, RCI deposits and for ClubPartner Perks reservations. Non-refundable fees apply to all Save Points as detailed in the Club Fee Schedule . Additional Point saving options may be offered for previously saved ClubPoints.

RCI Deposit.
Prior to December 31, 11:59 p.m. ET of the current year, Members may deposit current-year ClubPoints or Saved ClubPoints into the RCI Exchange program for future weekly and nightly RCI Exchange reservations (an “RCI Deposit”).

Once ClubPoints are deposited into the RCI Exchange program, the transaction is final and ClubPoints may not be returned to a Member’s Club account. An RCI Deposit fee applies. In the event a Member is unable to use the RCI Deposit before the end of the second year, for an additional fee, Members have the opportunity to extend the RCI Deposit into a third year. An RCI Exchange fee will be charged at the time of confirmation or the initiation of an RCI search request.

What "AlwaysOn" said...
The only way to keep points already "saved" once is to deposit them to RCI (by Midnight 12/31). Once there, saved points can be saved one more time (for a fee).

She needs to start using her points (both HGVC and RCI), or book something for a friend or family.

HGVC points for next year (2023) can be converted to HHonors (by Midnight 12/31), but its a poor use of points. In 2023, she can use that year's HGVC points to book hotel stays, but that's an even worse use of points. Example: Points for 1N at a Hampton Inn = 3-4N in a HGVC Studio.

@laarthur

**Correction** I just realized I copied the old Honors rules (prior to the latest 2022 point conversion).

In 2022, all resort point values were increased by 1.6 to align with Diamond (DRI). The current Honor conversion rates are 16 and 32 (to align with the increased point values). I’ve updated post #2 above.

Also, members may convert any number of their current year or next year’s allotment of ClubPoints into Hilton Honors points at the conversion ratio of 1 ClubPoint to 13 Hilton Honors points for a current-year reservation at a Hilton branded hotel. For example, 3,200 ClubPoints = 41,600 Hilton Honors points. Reservations must be confirmed at the time of conversion and travel dates completed within the current year.
