I believe I recall seeing/hearing somewhere that I could reserve my WKORV 2 BR unit as a 1 BR for some number of days (13?).

My DH and I had planned for a longer-than-one-week stay next year at WKORV and instead of using the studio side one week and the 1BR side for the next week we'd be willing to give up a day (or two or three) to stay in a 1BR unit the whole time.

Can anyone explain how this works?

Thanks,
Teresa

You can - but you won't be able to reserve the partial week until 90 days out. So you can reserve the first week at 12 mos. out, but you can't reserve the partial week until 90 days out. That is difficult, because you may not get the partial week if nothing is available at 90 days out.

This is how I would do it. At 12 mos. book the 1 bdm. for the first week, and the studio for the next week. (Owner services can take the resv. for the 2nd week when you put in the first week, and then put it in the system a week later, but you may have to ask for a supervisor.)

Then, at 90 days out, call and see if you can get a 1 bdm. for a partial week. If you can, cancel the studio and make the 1 bdm. Resv. If you can't, you will still have the studio as a back up.

Take a look at the Staroption chart posted in the Owner Resources Sticky, because each day of the week has a different Staroption Value and I think you can get the most days with a Sunday check-in.

For lots more info. about how Starwood works, see the FAQ at the top of the page.

Or, you can do it at 8 mos. out since stays of 7 or more days may be made at this point using StarOptions. In your case, I wouldn't do it, though, as you would lose your OF view.

For some reason, I also recall that someone did this at 12 months out and was able to get 13 days in a 1 bedroom. I'll have to do a search...

I'm definitely not willing to give up my view, so I'll make the two week 1BR/Studio reservation unless someone comes up with a better way ;)
