I'm going to google and have searched TUG but haven't seen anything yet on the current status or liklihood of an assessment at SVV Key West. I think I read that Bella was recently refurbished, does anyone know about KW? What would you say would be a good price for a 2bd LO worth 95k staroptions? Is it hard enough to use the extra 14k that I should just find a 81k unit and pay the lower MF?

thanks for any help, Starwood sages....

I should add that I am only buying for the staroptions, I don't ever plan on staying there

It looks like I could have the regular 2bd 81,000 SO unit for $1800 less and the annual MF is $322 less per year. I think I'm leaning this way.

We purchased 81,000 options (Bella) because, after looking at the StarOptions chart, we couldn't see any reason to pay for 95,700 other than the chance to get two 1br deposites with II.

The MFs are a lot more than $322 for a 2br. Probably at least 3x that much. Don't believe the fees listed in the ads, many times they don't include taxes or SVN fees or they are from two years ago.

KW is fairly new so don't expect a SA unless something unforseen happens. We own a 2 bedroom in Bella and our annual fees are as follows:
MF - 725.86, tax - 105.43, membership - 109.00, total - 940.29.

Although the fees at KW will be different, the amounts will not be substantially different.

Thanks for the reply. The difference in MF is $322, I was not clear and will go back and edit. As far as I can tell, the only thing the extra staroptions get in this case would be a 2bd vs 1bd in Cancun for spring break, or a 3 vs 2 bd in St John if we had a late fall break and could even get in.

I thought the membership was included in the 725, thanks for clarifying.

The options in Cancun have been adjusted, so the 2br plat won't happen (assuming you could even get in there for spring break at 8 months out). It now takes 148,000 StarOptions for a 2br plat in Cancun.

I own in the Key West section. Icluded in the maintanace statement it shows monies set aside for furniture/upgrades and such, so unless somethings that are unforseen come up They Should be in good shape .

Don't forget that some of the new ski resorts might take more points (Steamboat and possibly Riverfront when it comes up for sale)!

I passed on the 2bd lockout, most of the places we'd use it would only take 81k and I didn't think the extra 14k would get me far on a nightly basis. It was $7800 and I did see one sold on ebay for 14k last week. Maybe that was a bad decision.

I have a contract on the regular 2bd in the Bella section instead, less initial outlay and MF. I have til Tues to change my mind but the above one is gone.

Good point on the new locations, Kath. We are in CO so have our skiing covered, I guess we'll have to see about new locations beyond them.

If anyone falls across a pile of inexpensive WKV 1bd plat premiums please hollar, that might sway me.
