I'm not trying to be confusing.....I'm looking for some general feedback comparing a stay at a HRC property to a stay at a "Destination" branded Hyatt Residence.

Hyatt acquired the Destination company a few years ago. They have condo style accommodations (kitchen, laundry, etc.) at their properties.

So here's my question :
Thinking about Maui, how would you compare a stay at HKB to a stay at one of the many Destination properties located on Maui? The view at HKB seems superior but Hyatt has a bunch of different Destination residences on Maui that seem quite nice.

Is there a valid comparison to be made between owning/renting at HKB vs renting at a Destination property?

We have stayed at Elua, and Grand Champion and will try Alli in May. They are nice but nowhere near Kyatt Ka'anapali. Some units are old and not renovated, and it's luck of the draw which you get. Status won't help. They do provide beach chairs and coolers. They won't store food, pools are smaller but nice. They don't have restaurants or pool service but chairs are always available. Elua had a great kitchen for use by the oceanside pool. They leave wine and treats for your stay. We love them to add on to our Hyatt and Vistana weeks

We also toured Lahaina Shores which is a good value for the money. The oceanfront side is especially nice and the studios are well equipped. It did just change categories from a 4 to a 5. Sometimes we have been able to get the Residence Club with Hotel points to add on to our week there but that has been rare this year as more units get sold
