Combining Reservations

Was searching for info on this and only found 1 thread.

Unfortunately, being new to Worldmark I feel like I'm really messing up on reservations.

During the December holidays I was trying to secure a 7 night stay. A couple days ago I got 6 nights which left me missing 1 night. Now today I saw my missing 1 night was available and I grabbed it. So now I have two reservations, 1 for 1 day, 1 for 6 days, consecutive days, same unit type.

For what I've read, I have to call VPC and ask them to combine. Furthermore from reading it appears VPC has a combine button so there is not a small window of opportunity to lose a reservation when combining.

I am also thinking I will get refunded some fee money because it will now be just 1 reservation and not two.

Any advice? Pretty common practice in Worldmark?

[Worldmark]

Call VPC to combine two ressies. VPC will hold the dates while combining them, so there is no chance they get released (lost). Each reservation tied up one HKT if you booked with credits. You will get one HKT back and issued a new confirmation email after.

Quite common practice to assemble a reservation with missing dates...

Preventing Moves due to 2 resies

Another related question:

Is it possible to get Worldmark to combine two reservations with very "close" unit types?

I have a Seaside Friday Check-In for a 2 bed twin deluxe and a Saturday Check-In for a 2 bed twin (not deluxe).

I of course keep searching to see if a unit opens to create a 2 day match and then cancel the non-match, but so far nothing.

My questions are:
1) Any experience getting the VPC to downgrade (or upgrade!) 1 night/1 unit to create a match and prevent a move?

2) Any experience with the resorts front desk saying "You don't have to move" due to two reservations?

Checking out at noon and back in at 4 to another unit would be a pain...

Sometimes having TOO many different types of units even though fundamentally they're the same beds/view is not a good thing.

Another related question:

Is it possible to get Worldmark to combine two reservations with very "close" unit types? NO. Different unit types are different units

I of course keep searching to see if a unit opens to create a 2 day match and then cancel the non-match, but so far nothing. You will have to change room unless you find an identical unit type for one leg of the reservation. Seaside resort staffs are great (three trip to there this year so far), they will help you to change units with minimal hassle

My questions are:
1) Any experience getting the VPC to downgrade (or upgrade!) 1 night/1 unit to create a match and prevent a move? VPC can ONLY do based on guideline and availability

2) Any experience with the resorts front desk saying "You don't have to move" due to two reservations? They can not do that. They do everything based on the computer screen. They are very nice people as I said, they will do what they can.

Checking out at noon and back in at 4 to another unit would be a pain... They may help you to get room ready earlier than that by various means within their limit. Let front desk know when you check-in

Sometimes having TOO many different types of units even though fundamentally they're the same beds/view is not a good thing. Darn if it does, darn if it doesn't;) FYI, Deluxe means high floor.

VPC cannot upgrade or downgrade because there is an inventory of so many units for each type. There is no unit to give you if they change your unit type.

The Deluxes at Seaside are on higher floors (5 to 8, vs the regulars that are 1 to 4, above any structures that might possibly block the view) - therefore have a better view. They also are furnished a little better.

You may upgrade (change from the regular to a Deluxe) after cancellation deadline, without any penalty, even on the last day. Unfortunately, you may not downgrade after deadline without penalty.

I am in the same boat at another resort, watching for a change so that we won't have to move.

2) Any experience with the resorts front desk saying "You don't have to move" due to two reservations?

As others have already stated, if the two reservations are for two different room types, the answer is no. But if the reservations are for the same room type, yes they can usually accommodate you without a move.

We have done that when we extended a stay after we had already checked in. We called the VPC the day before we were scheduled to check out and made a new reservation, booking more nights in the same unit type. Then informed the front desk that we would be staying longer. We kept the same room without moving. The most recent time we extended a stay was because of weather. Not at the resort where we were, but because of a snowstorm in Colorado that closed the roads near home.
