Combining Reservation Types

If we break up our trip into 2 reservation types (i.e. 2 nights paid, 2 nights points) is it likely the resort can keep us in the same room, or is it common to have to move?

Specifically, we're looking at a long weekend in Newport. The MOD rate is only $211/night, so it seems my best bet would be to 'buy' Fri/Sat direct and 'exchange' Sun/Mon through the DC (pending availability of course!). But with 2 small children in tow I really don't want to sacrifice by having to move rooms.

Thanks!

This is a general answer, not specific to Newport where I have never stayed. As long as the two reservations are for the same type of room, they are usually able to keep you in the same room. It is better for them as well as for you if they can accommodate such a request. I would call a week before arrival to alert them to the fact that I have two back-to-back reservations and would like to keep the same room.

Happened to me before, you call them a couple of weeks before and they will "link" both reservations so you will not need to move.

Thanks!

As I understand, NCV only has 1 room designation (only 2bd, no view type) so we should be good.

Thanks for the input, I think I'll see what DC has available. Wish me luck!

Did this at Cypress, they even combined the reservations into one, so I did not have to do a check-in check out.
