I called and talked to a rep at the front desk. She said there was no real damage except the beach shuttle is closed. Apparently there are some issues at the beach dock and with some cleanup on the beach.

Her estimate for the repairs was a few days- but we will see. We are going soon so keeping up with the status. We have family in NC who are safe but in the affected area of Asheville, so we know a lot of people have been devasted by this storm.

If you at CP or if have any updates, please post.

In Estero, life returned to normal pretty quickly. CP was in Estero until Bonita did a land grab and it is surrounded by Estero

Update - i called the Hyatt Regency and they said there is no estimate for the beach being back open.

You can see they updated the status of Big Hickory Island at the bottom of the HCP website (scroll all the way day , see item 4). The beach has been closed on my last 3 visits. Starting to look like 4. Hopefully for everyone's sake we won't have another hurricane.

Has anyone been to Bonita Springs recently and have an update about Hickory Island? Thinking of going for Memorial Day weekend.

Is there an inter-resort shuttle with Regency if I want to eat at a restaurant there? I will not have a car. Thanks in advance.

There is usually a shuttle for the marina to the beach but that is over late afternoon.

I would call the resort and ask how long they run the shuttle. They may want you to schedule it.

I called the resort and the shuttle to the Regency hotel is based on availability (I think priority is given to those who are going over to the Regency to ride the ferry to Hickory Island). It is about a 15 minute walk but there is construction going on so it might not be a pleasant walk.

It is odd that the resort status page still says the beach is closed (see item 4 at the bottom)

When we were there the week of February 9th, the company that provides the boat service only had one of their three boats operating, so space was limited. Sign up early if you want to visit the beach. Perhaps that is why they haven't updated the beach status.
