COCONUT MALLORY RESORT Key West
If anyone owned a timeshare at Coconut Mallory Resort in Key West and had to sell or 'give back' their timeshare, I welcome your input and advice. We bought in 2006, 2-bedroom & could choose our week.

My advice? Always reserve week #7 each year (Northeast School Vacation Week) and rent it out each year. Should fetch at least $2,500 per week and likely more. Keep it and cash in.

I'm sure the TUG expert @ScoopKona will see this and respond to your post. Scoop knows a lot about Key West.

Thank you for your advice. I'm a 75-year-old widow & have health issues. It would be less stressful to be rid of it. Paying taxes on the rental amount doesn't appeal to me. I've rented it in the past.

I am sure posting it up for sale or adoption here on Tug will find you someone to take it over…i tried for awhile to pick up a unit on Redweek and they were always- in process or gone.

There is a section in this forum to give away your timeshare at no charge. See the link below. Post it there. You could ask the buyer to pay the transfer fee/closing cost or you could cover it. Your choice. If you do want to cover it, may I recommend LT Transfers, affordable and efficient. Redweek is another option although you will have to pay $18 to be able to post. The rest of the transfer information remains the same as above. Under no circumstances should you pay anyone to get rid of the unit. You will be scammed.
It seems like a small resort. Collects high rent especially in the winter months and no other unit is listed for sale on Redweek. I don't think it should be that hard to get rid of.

Thank you! I will consider that option! I had read enough about having a company 'sell it' to know not to sign up for that.

I'm still annoyed they got rid of Houseboat Row in order to build this and the other condos in the area.

But, that being said, it's a nice place and a great location. (Yeah, yeah, the airport. We all dealt with airplane noise. I lived on Elizabeth Street and heard planes all day. They stop landing at night, so it's hardly an issue.)

Seems to me Coconut Mallory has enough value that someone should take it and cheerfully pay closing costs and transfer fees.

Thank you! It is a nice resort, I liked the location. I enjoyed the time I was able to go there. I let the family use it. I rented it out. I rented it this year when I couldn't get there. It's 1,922 miles from where I live. Takes 2 days to fly there since our small airport cut out flights after the pandemic. That means an overnight in a hotel/motel. Plus cost of flying these days makes it difficult to even get there!

For what it’s worth there is nothing available to purchase on Redweek in quite some time…

Again I am pretty sure you have something others beside myself are looking for it might not be worth thousands but you definitely have no need to pay next years fees
