Club Wyndham Deed Transfer Extended Family

My Aunt and Uncle bought into Wyndham in the early 90's at one of the North Myrtle Beach properties. I'm currently not sure which one. My Aunt passed away in 2017 and my Uncle passed away earlier this year. I have 3 cousins and I was recently talking to one of them about the vacations my parents took with my aunt and uncle and she verified my uncle had "over a million" Club Wyndham points and was either Gold or Platinum VIP. She said they still own it but 2 of my cousins removed themselves from the Deed before my uncle passed away and only one of my cousins is now the Deed owner. Apparently, none of them have been using it and my cousin that owns the Deed now is looking to get rid of it. She never married or had kids. She has been paying the yearly maintenance fees. Based on the historical fees spreadsheet, it's probably anywhere from $6.50 - $7.50 per 1000 points plus the program fee that she's paying which would be getting close to $8k-$9k a year for the "over a million" points. My Uncle must have converted to the Club Wyndham points system at some point in time.

I have been researching the past couple of weeks to buy around 400k-500k of points off eBay at a lower fee resort trying to keep the current yearly fees between $2500 - $3500. The math at that price point works out for my family the way we travel. We have stayed at Bonnet Creek probably 10 times over the past 20 years renting through 3rd party sites like VRBO / Koala, etc. We have also stayed at other Wyndahm resorts around the US the same way as well.

Questions I have:
- I do not believe there is a way to transfer the Deed to my family since I am not an "immediate family member" based on Wyndham's definition (spouses, domestic partners, siblings, parents, children, and grandchildren)
- The only way to keep VIP benefits is that one of my cousins would need to remain on the Deed
- If my cousin remains on the Deed, I could make an internal contract with her to use for example 500K points and pay half the maintenance fee / program fee yearly cost. Based on the VIP level of Gold or Platinum, they have either 10 or 15 guest confirmation transfers available
- I think this is a classic example of my Uncle over buying points probably assuming that my 3 cousins would continue using it
- Is it even worth exploring trying to use "his" points with some type of agreement with my cousins or just continue waiting to see something available on eBay that meets what my family is looking to use?

I'm sure you can just tell them it's your father/mother. They would have to initiate it, he could say you were his immediate heir. It's not like they check birth certificates or anything. Sounds like this would be the best for everyone, and the cousins would not have to be involved.

The problem is, if your cousin stops paying the fees they would still be responsible for it would leave your usage in jeopardy. I can see a lot of problems happening with this type of arrangement.

Yea, the big issue is how close are you with this cousin? If he just gets you GCs (which are limited I think) then you're reliant on him booking and being on the ball unless he just shares his web login with you. Plus side, only that cousin is "on the hook" for the fees. If you get put on the deed along with him that'll take like 6 months and cost some money and be a bit of a PITA, and TBH IDK if you'd also get a separate login or if it just obviates the GC issues.

The other question is - if you're "added" to the deed, does that change the VIP? I think VIP follows the account, not the deeds, so yea. If you can't swing the whole MFs, I'd suggest your ebay acquisition of lower MF/pt deeds that's within your budget is probably by far the safest bet. Though him sharing the online account with you and using GCs wouldn't risk very much I don't think.

Also remember GC's don't work on "owner priority" dates. So this could get you into limitations.

Can't you use two of them on owner priority dates?

Yeah, I suppose so, and it's never been an issue for me, but I see some people complaining about the limitation. I use my points for myself almost exclusively and never used one of the GC's during OP dates.

Hey!!! I'm new to Wyndham. As in I just joined the system last year due to resale. To be upfront the VIP benefits do not transfer. They tell you that. Anyone selling you resale or giving you a transfer is supposed to tell you that. BUT!!!! Do not take what I say as gospel. Wyndham is a huge company and they process these requests all the time. Pay your LT transfer or some company you trust to do the transfer. There is no rhyme or reason. My first resale got me at bronze level. That was unexpected. I am now at 1.4 million points a year. I have 4 contracts. 2 at Kingsgate that put me at bronze level 203K each. and then I closed on a Bali Hai 500K that put me at a gold level. The Bali Hai was a resale. From what I can tell, in the processing if Wyndham keys it as a week converted you'll VIP award level. That's the commonality between 3/4 contracts that qualified for VIP treatment. I guess it's on how the deeds are recorded when sent in. Again, I have to stress, when you do the transfer, don't count on the VIP levels transfering. I can't speak to transferring between family members.
