I can grab something Marriott or I can burn a lot of points on Clearwater Beach. I need to burn points, so that is not a problem.

I just cannot believe that a 2 bedroom in fall is 325,000 points, and it's booked way ahead of time. I have Founders' level of ownership and can book a couple of reservations way out. I figured I would try something different from Orlando.

We may go back to Panama City Beach the week before. Two nice weeks in Florida that aren't Disney. What a concept.

It's a nice resort, very great location. Rooms have a very unique decor. Very modern looking.

One of the downsides is you don't know and can't specify ocean front or ocean view (like you can at Ocean Blvd or ToTg, or other resorts). It's complete luck of the draw.

So you may very well end up with a room that faces East (inland) and not have much view, or you may get a ocean front (west facing) or ocean view (North or South facing).

I've stayed there 3 times, once in a 1BR Deluxe facing inland, once in a 2BR DLX facing ocean and once in a 4BR Presidential (ugraded) that faced ocean.

There's 2 towers, one is all timeshare, one is Wyndham grand hotel. Parking is free for owners. It is a lot of points. It's pretty much right on the beach, but there is a road inbetween the resort and the beach, it's a lightly travelled side road, big pool, restaurant and bar on site, lots of restaurants to walk to, also marina right next door, lots to do nearby.
Also much better beach than any other Wyndham resort. Sand is much better than Ocean Walk, or any of the Myrtle beach or Panhandle or Pompano resorts.

I did choose the 1 bedroom presidential for 325K points, so I do assume it's going to be ocean view but maybe that's not a guarantee.

Still expensive for us, $7.00 per 1,000 points in MF/program fee total. I hope it's as good as the cost suggests it will be.

I booked a 2 bed presidential at Panama City Beach. Has that one had an update? The units were pretty outdated a couple of years ago. There were no one bedroom presidential at PCB but the 2 bed was available.

I truly have points to burn. I didn't even ask for a unit upgrade because we are just two people and don't need that.

I don't know if all of the presidential units are ocean view or not. The one time I stayed in a presidential there, was an upgrade and it was Ocean Front.

The first time we stayed there, was a 1BR Delxue and it was a very nice room, but was one of the lower levels and we got a view of a building under construction and the street.

One word of warning, that area got hit HARD by 2 hurricanes back to back this year. I live somewhat nearby and went down there and saw the destruction first hand. It was bad. I think it's mostly recovered by now, but I know the resort was closed for a couple weeks because of damage, and they had no power for several days. One of the days I drove by, they had huge generator trucks out front providing power. The first floor which is where the check-in, pool, tiki bar, restaurant and inside bar are located got flooded.

Several nearby restaurants got heavily damaged and took a couple months to re-open

I don't know anything about the resort but I used to live just down the street from there and it's a fun area with lots to do. Make sure you get your groceries before the weekend traffic hits. That bridge backs up forever.

Thank you for the warning. We will be driving in on a Saturday. Maybe I should change the dates to a weekday instead.

I wouldn't worry about it. It will just be one crossing for you.

Traffic isn't that bad in Fall. It's absolutely horrid in March and April. Starting second week in March is Spring Break for Florida schools, then later March into the 3rd week of April is Spring Break for colleges

There's a Publix (local grocery store) not far from downtown Clearwater, it's a short divert on your way.

Island Way Grille is a must. Frankie's on the beach is a local place that is really good, lots of good places to eat nearby. The restaurant in the Wyndham isn't bad too, and there's a cheaper restaurant at the resort at street level in the back corner that's decent too, they do take out as well. I don't know if it has re-opened, I have to assume it got hit HARD because it's at the lowest part of the building.

Palm Pavillion was my go to frequently but I don't think it has re-opened yet. Plus, you can have breakfast at Hogan's hangout and you might see the Hulk cruising his golf cart around. I understand the restaurant in the Opal is very good but I've never been there. My son is working at the Opal in Longboat key now.
