Club Wyndham and RCI exchange

I have never used RCI before, but my ongoing search came through. The reservation is for 2026 and currently RCI is showing my 2025 and 2026 combined points as available. Does anyone know when I book will it remove the points from my available 2025 points or will they be removed from 2026? I have extra 2025 points that I need to bank with Wyndham.

If I need to cancel later on will the points go back to my Wyndham account or do they go to my RCI account? I plan on buying points protection. Since, this reservation is so far away I want to be prepared for the unexpected.
