As everyone is trying to guess the post-August impact of having unassigned travel certificates, I started wondering if this is the one time it might make sense to move Chase Rewards to Marriott and then buy Category 1-5 TPs to maximize FF miles.

I know Ultimate Rewards are generally valued at 1.25 cents, but as I tend to target business class flights I haven't seen much benefit from them when searching. I may also be missing some opportunities with hotels, though I've mostly been collecting and not using them this pass year so don't really know.

With 500K URs available, and the 1M MRs I've already started to allocate, I'm just wondering if anyone else has gone down this road.

I did move a small amount, 24K UR, last week to my MR account to complete purchase of a travel package. I find that there is more value when moving UR to United or Southwest instead of over to MR. I don't use UR to book international business class as I book them directly through United or Delta. UR does not transfer to Delta and I had used Marriott travel package to achieve transfer of miles to Delta.

I guess that's true, instead of spending 235K UR points on MRPs to buy 132K United miles, I'd just move 1:1 from UR to United as needed.

I am about 40K MR points short to round up to another TP high value TP, so that might be another option...and still get a TP out of it.
(2 Cat 1-5, 1 Cat 7 and 1 Cat 8) (1.04M MRPs for 504K AA & UA miles.) vs four Cat 1-5 TPs for 'only' 940K MRPs.

TXTortoise, everyone’s calculations are specific to their travel plans. I would point out that it is very easy to obtain more value for UR points. For example, the Sapphire Reserve gives a minimum of $.015. Better yet, transferring to airline partners or Hyatt. But, ymmv. Cheers.
