I filed a claim through eclaimsonline.com - card benefit services, for trip cancellation. My husband was notified that he had to have surgery 3 days prior to our leaving for 2 weeks in Orlando in January. I uploaded all requested documentation - II confirmation, RCI confirmation, history of payment, cancellation confirmation, credit card statements showing payments made, MD statement that my husband was unable to travel, etc. I got a request for further documentation :

□ A copy of your original itinerary which includes the dates of travel, name of travelers and cost of the trip (showing the last 4 digits of the account number).

□ The Travel Supplier(s) confirmation of any refunds/credits for future travel provided because of the cancellation. They often communicate this via email, mailed on company letterhead, or within your online reservation/account profile with them.

I was able to access my financial history from RCI, and Mark from II had sent me an email outlining the costs I incurred, which was complicated because it was the 3rd E-plus transaction, plus a size upgrade fee, and the original payment was a credit that had been there from a previous ongoing search. I emailed him back asking him to reiterate that I was losing $357 due to the cancellation.

The exchange confirmations from Interval do not show the cost of the exchange or my account number. It is very difficult to get all of the required information on one form.

Either the insurance company is not familiar with timeshare exchanges, or they just are reluctant to pay claims. I'm hoping for a positive outcome.

These insurance companies are used to dealing with tour packages, all inclusives, cruises and perhaps land and air separately. Timeshare will be very foreign to most of their processors.

I used a different travel insurance company back in 2021 and the timeshare stuff was kind of a nightmare for them. I wrote a short narrative for them and then added notes on each piece of documentation. I emailed, I called. They kept asking for the same items over and over again. In the end the last email that I sent said that I had already sent everything three times and that I wouldn't send it again. I was planning to file a complaint with the insurance commissioner in the state where they were based but before I could do that a check came in the mail for the full amount. So just be persistent. And do your best to make it easy for them.

Thank you.

Btw, I used my credit card statements to support the charges.
Yes, one of their requirements was the credit card statements to show that the fees were charged to that card.

Thanks. I have this card also. Let us know how it goes.

Knock on wood, I've never had to make a claim on the Reserve card. @jackio , I hope they come thru on reimbursing for costs.
Timeshare costs are kinda indirect as you have to make MF payment way before you ever use the pts or week.
If you can't retrade the week, I guess you can get an II replacement week, but it's hard to quantify the loss in value.

We're traveling to Europe soon, and got travel insurance primarily for medical costs while away since we are both on Medicare.
However included the timeshare lodging costs in MF in my estimate of trip costs too, just in case we can't make it to the
timeshare in 2nd part of our itinerary.

My CSR covered the cost of my rental car writeoff. Dont play bumper cars with an 18 wheeler in a snow storm in Canada. Don't recommend it. But I am happy camper that CSR offers Primary CDW coverage, not secondary.

That is one of the main reasons I keep the card. I always am the only driver.

In 2019 in Argentina, my plane was delayed by a day, the card cover all meals and extra hotel night. Easy to deal with at the time.

Update. Chase Sapphire Reserve insurance approved my claim for my 2 exchange fees lost when DH had to have kidney surgery. I had to jump through a few hoops providing documentation, I think because they are not used to dealing with timeshares. But I got notice today that the claim for $626 was approved, and they will mail me a check in 7-10 days. Hooray! I did not even try to get the partial value of my weeks back. II gave me a replacement week but it's only good to search 30 days out, and RCI gave me 14 TPU back out of 25 for the exchange, and that exchange was made off a combined deposit. How would I even begin to value these in a way that the insurance company would understand?

I suspect you can't get anything back for the II exchange. It would be the equivalent of a credit on an airline. Even if it isn't the full value, you were made whole. Not sure about the TPU. Were the maintenance fees on the underlying deposits paid for with the credit card? If not, then it may not cover any of it.

I didn't even try. The MF's were probably paid with the card, but my RCI deposits were combined and extended and I couldn't even assign the exchange to any one week. The II unit could be traced back, but like you said, I received partial value.
I am just glad to get my exchange fees back, especially the II one. It was hard to document the exact dates and amounts of the exchange. It started as an ongoing search, so was paid for in advance. Then I used the unit for another exchange, paid a size upgrade fee, and purchased e-plus. The final exchange was my 3rd re-trade on the e-plus. Many thanks have to go to Mark from II, who documented all of the dates and amounts for the initial trade, the upgrade, and the e-plus fee. His correspondence helped a great deal.
