Charleston looks closer, but Columbia looks like more of a direct drive. Any suggetins on how long the drinving time is from both airports to HHI?

www.mapquest.com, I'd choose Charleston or Savannah or even HHI airport via USAir.

Fly US Air into HHI or Savannah. Savannah is so easy like our homeport of Providence TF Green. Rentals are right there and no congestion, only 40 minutes away. We just landed two hours ago and miss the island already. Weather was 88-91.

Thanks for the replies. We are going down in Feb, winter break. The fares to Savannah and Jacksonville are $500+ for non-stop. We can fly into Charleston or Columbia for $259. So we thought we would go that route. However, the flights get in at 10 or 11PM, so we would stay one night in Columbus or Charleston, tour the city the next day, and then drove to HHI late afternoon. It would still be slightly cheaper, and then we could see either one of those cities, depending on which one we choose to fly into. At this point I am leaning towards Charleston.

If you want to fly into JAX it's often about 110.RT plus a 3 hr drive. We just paid 243.00 pp RT to SAV from Boston,it was 350 from PVD. For years PVD has been lower but not lately. It was 4.5 hr flight with 1 stop in Charlotte. I always flew into JAX the last 3 years because we paid under 250 for 2 RT.

Set up Travelocity fare tracker and then compare to the airline sights. Flights change so often. Check other airports to fly from.

If the choice is Charleston or Columbia it's no contest. Charleston is closer
to HH and is one of the most charming cities in the US!

Agree with city comparison. However, Charleston takes 2 hours and 5 minutes to HHI, Columbia about 2.hrs 15 minutes. Just did it three weeks ago. Time of travel is a wash, IMHO.
