Hi,
I have a owner reservation and I am able to change the name through vistana.
The associated Marriot reservation I can not change the name online since its linked to my Bonvoy number. When I call Marriot they say it can not be changed by them since it is an ownership reservation. Has anyone done the change through marriot and how did you get it done?

Thanks

Call Vistana again and talk with someone else.

Thanks, did that its showing name change on the vistana side, just not on the marriot 8 digit reservation number, the one used for check in.

Thanks

Vistana should be able to change that, since it's requested when you book the reservation on their system. If you entered your own Marriott Bonvoy number there, that's how they transfer it to Marriott. Of course, their IT is horrible so it doesn't always work.

I am able to log onto my Bonvoy account and change the guest name. What I think I can't do is remove my Bonvoy number.

I log in to Marriott.com, find the reservation under My Trips, click on View/Modify, and expand the Guest Information section. I can type a new name there.

Yes , when you try to save the name change, it doesnt let you because of the bonvoy number attached to the reservation.

I changed the name on August 22, so something must have changed since then.

Got vistana to send another request..
Name got changed but my bonvoy still there and email address but atleast name has been done on the marriot side

The guest will have to update the Bonvoy number at checkin. It can't be changed online, by Owner Service or in any other way. It can now only be changed at checkin by the guest.

Can a guest add their own Bonvoy number at checkin? They wouldn't get elite night credits (would they?) I suppose they could get points for their sundry purchases (bar/restaurant, spa, etc.) at the resort. But I was under the impression (possibly a mistaken one) that only the owner could get Bonvoy points on an owner reservation, and only if they were there in person at check-in. Maybe I am wrong on that.

In any case, there's no harm in trying.

As long as they have a Bonvoy account and add their number, they should get the credit and any points for incidental. They may not be technically eligible per the terms, but what they are eligible for and what they get are two different things.

Yes to both. I had another unit last week for friends and upon checkin just added their Bonvoy number, etc. (This was an II reservation, but I believe they treat it as the same...).

I stand corrected. I guess I'm a little surprised that Vistana/MVW would pay Marriott for the Bonvoy points+credits for a non-owner on an owner reservation, but maybe it's less costly to do so than to argue with all those folks about why they don't. Or maybe it's baked into their license agreement and there isn't any additional cost to Vistana.
