Change to cancel protection for modify reservations

I modified a reservation yesterday (walking it) and noticed an option to select cancel protection for $99 during the reservation change/modify:

Has there been a change to the change policy? I don't remember seeing this option during the change/modification before.

There is that new post reservation cancellation protection but it is supposed to be $129. I haven't used it so don't know how you add it but it makes sense that it would be through the change reservation process.

Is there a place to see if the terms have changed? For example, I paid for the RCI(HGVC) Points Protection and may need to cancel one of the units due to family not being able to join.

I'm planning to call Monday, but it would be easier if they made it clearer the 3-6 months after we book waht we book (i.e. keep the fine print available).

How does this work? I don't see the option for my current booking? Do i have to call to do this if i wanted to? What is the time frame to add or cancel if you do it?

This is pure cash flow to HGVC so not surprised if they officially added this.
