if I were looking to buy today I'd buy the cheapest voluntary platinum unit I could find in SVN and simply trade into WKORV (where I really want to go) or HRA in low season with the SVN 3-day priority in II rather than buy at either place and pay the hefty purchase price and MFs.

I would too! :D

I would too! :D

In some circumstances, but I do not believe in all situations as it is not a straightforward decision because of the many associated variables. {it is not always an either/or decision}

upgrade/retro rules changes

My favorite SVO rep called me today as she knew I had purchases in the process of closing....and that I intended to upgrade and retro some resales...
the rules may be "bendable" when you walk in with everything "ready to go" as Kath is suggesting....
in the meantime, the official $20K new monies minimum to upgrade and retro a resale at the same time leaves some of us with no option other than than the $20K or go for a developer purchase (still think they don't make much sense.....)
what I am amazed about is that they would pick this difficult economic environment to pull changes like these on us....!
a bit uncanny....and certainly un-welcome !!!!
