When I was a boy, we had a cat that was semi-feral. My older brother rescued the cat from some boys who were had it cornered and were throwing stones at it. My brother was able to get hold of the cat, tuck it under his coat, and carry it home. It was still quite wild, though.

One time a dog wandered into our back yard and got into a scuffle with the cat. The cat maneuvered to jump on the dog's back, sunk her claws in, and started biting the neck of the dog. The dog took off as fast as it could, howling and howling, with the cat riding on the back.

The cat was back home in about half an hour. We never saw the dog in the neighborhood again.

Steve, that cat was lucky. Also, it missed a couple of easy jumps, so I wonder if it was injured. I am a cat lover. I'm glad that the coyote didn't prevail.

We lost a cat to coyotes when I was a kit. We lived in the boonies and had a cat that was mainly outdoor but it would come in at night. One night it didn't return. My parents and brother went out looking for it and found it dead. We suspect a coyote got to it. Perhaps them heading out scared the coyote off.

I had a cat that must have thought that it was invincible. One time, I found my cat stalking a coyote. It was trying to sneak up on it, hiding behind trees and rocks as it advanced. Crazy.

My cat was really smart, and appeared to understand things that I said. So, once I told it if there were "bad animals" that it should jump up on the roof. I showed the cat where it would be more easy. Jump to a ledge and then jump to a wooden structure and then the roof. Well, after that, we had several evening when I'd return home when the cat would greet me from the roof of our one story house. The cat thought that it was a game of hide and seek. Eventually the cat would come down. But maybe it helped the cat a few times. The cat ended up living to be 20 years old. In its later years, it had lost its confidence. It no longer felt that it was invincible and required me to accompany it as we walked around our 5 acre property.

I knew only a few cool cats but for the most part I'm not a fan.
