Cash cab tv series

I've seen it on The Game Show network on cable. Not sure how old the episodes are.

Dave

Used to watch all the time. Ben was funny as could be. I was hoping they would bring it back but, haven't heard anything.

I've heard they're bringing it back off and on for years.

That was a fun show! Never watched it in real time, but it apparently was on a channel where I would go to catch up on something I did watch, and when I'd see it listed would watch several episodes until forgetting it was there again.

Loved that show on The Game Show network especially when the contestants have three (3) strikes and are kicked out of the Cash Cab.

We liked that program too, but hard to find

A Google search indicates Bravo ordered shows for Cash Cab and it looks like it did have a run in 2019. I suspect the pandemic put a kibosh on further production. It was rebooted before on Discovery, but failed. While some may like it, it doesn't seem that there is enough to warrant its continuation. Stick a fork in it.

I never knew the show existed until my mother had to go into a skilled nursing facility. We would always watch it when I visited her for lunch. You wonder how people come up with these show concepts.

I always hoped my two Manhattan nieces with my Italy niece and my sister and her husband ( across the bridge in Bergen County NJ) would end up in that cab. Between them they would know lots of information.

Bravo! That's where I saw it. Just checked and there are a bunch of episodes available on my free On Demand feature from our cable provider (COX).

I loved watching this show. It originally air (briefly) in the UK before getting a solid foundation in Canada with episodes in Toronto and then later in Vancouver. I have only seen a few of the NYC episodes but I was so used to seeing Adam Grow as the Canadian version host that the US version just didn’t feel right for me. A great show though.

Always liked when the lights went off.

Cheers

I thought a good variation would be a rideshare (Lyft or Uber). Same premise, the host goes to pick them up, and offers a free ride + $$$, with a chase car behind feeding him questions.

yes, in many situations Uber and Lyft are better than getting a taxi

But I'm suspicious about the 'Cash Cab" TV show's customers -- some seem staged and not real taxi customers off the street

It seems most of the contestants were randolme. Some were prescreened, but still prescreened on the street and still not kowning it would be for Cash Cab;

5. SOME CONTESTANTS ARE SELECTED AHEAD OF TIME.
Not all passengers are chosen randomly off the street. Some are prescreened, although even that process is a little sneaky. According to previous contestants, the Cash Cab staff often approaches people by saying they work for a made-up series called Show Me New York, where residents share their favorite spots in the city. They’ll give prospective contestants a quiz. If they do well, the staffers will tell them to go to a certain location to film their segment. That’s when they get in the cab, and Bailey reveals the ruse.

What? You're saying that "reality" shows are staged?? You must be joking!!! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Great example: in all of the "house hunter" shows, the buyers have already purchased their new home before they even filmed the show.

Sometimes the houses they look at aren't even for sale!
