St Lucia is getting its first casino. It will be located near Castries, opening in December with 300 slots and 20 table games.

St Lucia also getting nonstop air service three days a week from JFK on Air Jamaica.

Westin is opening its first property on St Lucia in 2007. It will have 232 rooms.

Aruba tourism increases showed the Holloway incident had no impact on tourism. Hotel occupancy increased from 79% in 2004 to 82% in 2005.

Also several expansions of hotels are planned as well as another expansion of the airport. The Aruba Marriott Stellaris will begin a 24 million dollar expansion this year and the Hyatt is spending 20 million on a refurbishment.

I imagine the Marriott expansion will further increase the crowded beach in that area that includes the Surf Club and Ocean Club. It will also add more guests that will have access to the pool areas of those properties.
