Caribbean Beach Club, Fort Myers Beach

I am considering purchasing a week at this facility. The prospective seller apparently "inherited" the ownership but actually knows very little about it and really wants nothing further to do with it.

I have been to the facility before and I know the physical layout pretty well --- it's essentially a converted motel with small units (...but it's also waterfront). I also know about the extensive North wing fire in 2005 (...and the exceedingly long time period it took to rebuild).

I'd welcome and appreciate either openly posted input or a PM from a current owner here regarding any opinions, updates, or any other informed input regarding the ongoing and unresolved legal actions against the insurance company, the ongoing special assessments, the current HOA, etc.

This is not a request for a "review"; I'm seeking informed input from a current owner regarding the unresolved legal, insurance, and special assessment issues which seems to be an "ongoing saga" at this facility. From previous visits, I like the place, but I am also not looking to hastily buy into an ongoing (and so far, seemingly endless) mess with insurance settlements, legal actions and ongoing "special assessments" unless there is actually some light already visible (even if only faintly) at the end of the tunnel...

Informed input, either public or private via PM from a current owner would be most sincerely appreciated.

No advice here on the legal stuff but IMHO there are much nicer
timeshares in Ft. Myers beach than this place. I'd keep looking
for something else. Even if someone gave me this place, I don't
think I'd want it, especially if there are legal issues involved.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Personally, I'm always much more interested in "location" than in "elegance" in a facility --- just as long as a place is not actually a "dump" (and CBC most certainly is not)...

I already own several winter weeks at facilities in that geographic area and have stayed in about eight different resorts in FMB (including CBC) over the past 25 years or so. You are certainly correct that there are "nicer" facilities (... and most have larger sized units), but a prime winter week in a Gulf front unit, at a VRI managed waterfront facilty I'm already familiar with (...and being acquired for next to nothing) has a certain strong appeal to me, as long as the unresolved insurance / legal saga is not literally an endless one...
Informed input from a current Caribbean Beach Club owner still sought and respectfully requested...
