I have a deadline to use my points and travel by September 30 of this year and cannot extend it. Is it possible to make the reservation and then cancel it and extend the deadline in that way?

I believe your points will still expire at their expiration date. Depending on when you cancel the points just go back in your account or into a holding account.

One way to extend the expiration of the points would been to have MVC convert them to a week deposited in II which would then be good for 2 years to exchange to non MVC properties.

This thread might be helpful- my post is #4

Likely your best bet at this point would be to rent out your points to someone else right now (so they can be utilized before the expiration date). Then, when and if you decide to go somewhere you can rent points to make your new reservation at any time you want. Go to the website below:

This is an easy way to effectively deal with your September 30th deadline.

Enjoy your eventual trip.

Very helpful advice, especially with the details about II you provided. Thanks.
