That is true. You can rent out what you own not what you obtain through rci.

You can get guest certificate for family and friends, but they frown on renting. Unless it’s from extra vacations that they rent. You can’t subrent a confirmed exchange.

Even owning in points is tied a week or weeks you own.

Click on exchange vacations in RCI, then look at the at top for home reservations. It is a box on the top right of the screen.

There you will see the week or weeks you can book. Those are the home weeks you can rent.

If you can book it during your float period or fixed week though the home week priority at 12-13 months in advance and rci doesn't charge an exchange fee then it would considered your home week. Converted to points doesn't change you deeded ownership.
