Can we sell our Hilton Club NY back to Hilton?

Hello;
I just recently discovered this web site. It's great. I wish I had found it back when we first started looking at the Hilton club.

Anyway, we have been owners of Hilton Club NY for 3 years. Last year we bought into HGVC in Orlando. Lately, we have been talking with a HGVC rep about upgrading our Orlando membership. They are willing to let us trade in NY.

But after reading through the forum I am starting to think that buying from Hilton may not be a wise financial move. That I might get a better deal in the resale market.

So I was wondering if we could sell back our membership in the Hilton Club NY. We like it but now that we live in Tn it's alot harder to find time to get to NYC. When we bought it we lived in upstate NY so it was easy to pop down to NYC for a long weekend. We only have 5000 points there.

Any info would be appreciated.

They wont give you much for it, but they may buy it back. They will try and upgrade you, so trade in your NY add a hefty upgrade fee and then get something else.

I would suggest selling through someone like Judy Kozlowski, and then purchasing resale. You will take a hit on your NY TS though, if you purchased developer price, you will never gain that money back.

There are plenty of ways to sell your timeshare on your own, Judi and Seth Nock are both great reps to use.

But after reading your post, I'm wondering if you understand that you can use your 5000 pts at any HGVC resort, exchange for RCI credit, or convert your points to HHonors points and stay at any Hilton hotel? Those 5000 plus whatever you purchased at Sea World should be enough to get you some great vacations just about anywhere in the world.

I don't know what you paid for your New York deed, but I'm guessing you'll lose some money trying to sell it right now.

Let me know!

I may take it off your hands, but truly it is a great trader!
No need to sell it!
You can go just about anywhere with it!
It is NYC of all places!

is this the one that has an expiry? or is this a lifetime deed? I know that there are 2 in NY now, just cant grasp the concept of the NY clubs

This one has expiry. It expires in about 20 years I think. So more like a lease.

I understand I can use the points for other places. I was thinking selling it and buying something on the resale market maybe with less maintenance costs might be a better way to go. I will have to do more analysis I guess.

you will take a hit that is forsure. I would keep the NY one because it will be a great trader and it is hard to get to. Invest on a second one, perhaps resale so that you can add to your points.

I just think that you will regret selling it, because the value drops so much. Does the NY club have ROFR? that may help you out a bit.

To give you an idea on pricing I bought 5,000 points resale at the Hilton Club New York last year for $6,500. Have our first trip planned this November.

I would keep the NYC Club and buy an HGVC resale.
