I am looking at the Directory where it has a map of all the resorts in the US and on some they have different colored dots.

They say Club Wyndham, Affiliate hotel, Associate hotel and associate resort.

Can someone explain to me the difference in those and can you stay at any of those with regular Wyndham points?

For instance Sugar Bay in St Thomas is an Associate hotel, but Bluebeard's is a Club Wyndham resort.

Do you have to have special points to stay at associate and affiliate hotels?

Sorry if this question has been asked and answered I can't find it if it has.

ETA: I did notice that Sugar Bay is an all inclusive and costs like 100,000 points a night.

In theory you can stay at any of them. In practice you can really only stay at the club Wyndham dots. All of the others have extremely low availability. A few of them might have a small amount of availability in the off season but don't count on it.

You must be looking at an old directory. Sugar Bay is no longer managed by Wyndham...I think their contract to manage the resort was up in 2011 and Wyndham chose not to renew.
