I want to cancel a reservation that I have through Destination Club points.
I do not know if that is feasible via the web site.
I called MVCI toll free number - but they are not open on weekends. I guess I can wait until Monday - but there must be a way to cancel bookings on weekends or holidays.

Not directly, but you can use the online chat if it is available.

I started the chat: here is what was displayed

  • Owners may request any changes or cancellations to your Weeks reservation(s) as long as you let us know at least 60 days prior to the check-in date. Please note there is a $40 cancel/change fee which applies to each reservation changed or cancelled.

  • To cancel or modify your reservation online, please submit your request here: https://owners.marriottvacationclub.com/timeshare/mvco/contact-form. Please note, there will be a delay in your cancellation or modification being reflected online.

So the MVCI agent who was chatting with me, could not directly cancel the reservation.
When I asked if the $40 fee was just for online cancellations - as I had never been charged a fee when cancelling or changing a reservation over the phone - the agent did not know what I was talking about. (I am enrolled into MVCI destination club points program -and I am an executive level member - if that makes any difference?).

I will wait until Monday and cancel the reservation then by calling MVCI customer service.

The cancellation fee should not apply to DC point reservations or enrolled weeks reservations.

I have never called to cancel. Try a different agent and/or make sure you are not talking with a chat bot. They will usually start with the online one, but just say you need to cancel now because you want to reserve another week and need it back so you can look at all your options.

With online chat, the first thing you'll want to do is to message "live advisor," at which time it will ask you if you wish to speak with a live advisor followed by a yes or no tab. Click on yes to speak to a live advisor. If someone is available, they will come on. If not, it will tell you that no one is available and you can just try at another time. They are not there all the time, but I have sometimes had luck on weekends and later at night when the telephone folks are not available. I have cancelled many reservations via live chat and I have never been charged to do so.

One of the worst omissions of a pretty bad MVCI web site. Along with the inability to save and re-run past searches (that I have found).
