I had a two bedroom trade into KVB in April. My sister and husband were coming, but my brother-in-law is now having an operation at that time. Sooooooooo, what is the best option in not losing the points or value with RCI or will they let me transfer to another resort here on the mainland?or...or...or...?

Is this an RCI points trade or an RCI weeks trade?

This is a weeks trade, that I added the value of two week I had to get enough week value points.

Aloha,
I have never been in this situation before, but I think you have to cancel the exchange. I think you lose the exchange fee. Since there are about 90 days until check in, I think your TPU are returned to whatever they were (qty & expiration) before the KBV confirmation.

Unless you have insurance you will not necessarily get the full TPUs back that you had to "spend" to get the exchange. If you call in, you should be able to find out how many TPUs you will get back if you cancel the exchange before you actually cancel it.

Used to be that you could call in and once in a while get a guide to simply to the swap for you if you saw something you wanted online. Not sure if it's possible given the new TPU system, if they can "override" a TPU requirement or not.

Thanks for all the info, fortunately I had the insurance.
Roman

If you have the insurance you will get back all your TPUs and your exchange fee. The exchange fee is a credit with a shelf life of 6 months to use it for another exchange. You do not have to actually vacation within the 6 months, just do an exchange to use the credit.
