Just need a room for 4 nights, but only check-in dates are F/S/S (I need a Wed).

If I do an II trade into a Marriott with a Sunday Check-in, can I call and let them know I will not be there until Wednesday?
Has anyone done this before?

Yes, many, many people here at TUG arrive late and/or leave early. Just call the resort, preferably on the day you are scheduled to check in, and tell them when you will arrive. Be sure to write down and save the name of the person you talked to and date and time.

We Checked In 3 Days Late . . .

. . . for our reserved January 2008 timeshare week in St. Augustine FL.

The Chief Of Staff's backbone was torqued so bad she couldn't face the discomfort of an all-day car ride from here to there, so we delayed for a few days till she was feeling better & checked in Wednesday instead of Sunday. (Backbone is OK now.)

We phoned ahead to let the resort check-in people know we'd be arriving late & they said OK.

Full Disclosure: It was a BlueGreen timeshare, not a Marriott. Plus, it was an RCI Instant Exchange reservation, not I-I. So it goes.

We did this once, through an II trade, at our home resort. We still had to wait until 4pm to check in, even though our check in day was two days before we got there! I was not happy! We were also put in the most undesirable building.
Call them and get it all straightened out before you leave. Write down names and dates.
Good luck!

This is wrong! Your room should have been waiting for you!

Agree. Technically it was your room from the original check in date. I have checked in a day late to several marriott's and never had a problem and room was available when I arrived, even in the morning. I did notify the property the previous week.

Hi,
Yes, I totally agree it was WRONG, and they knew it before we left! It was not a Marriott property, so I'd like to think it would have been different if it were. This was also about 10 years ago.

This happened to me once when I arrived the next day. We showed up at 11:30 in the morning and were told the unit wasn't ready. I talked to the manager and she agreed we got the shaft. We didn't get in until 3:30. Evidently they gave our room to another guest who decided to stay an additional night and they left it a mess after eight days. Guess what? She gave us a certificate for a free week (yes a free week). This wasn't at Marriott (Kings Creek Plantation in Williamsburg).

We just did that Yesterday! We were supposed to check in on Saturday, I called Sat morning and advised them that we would be coming in on Monday. We got here yesterday at noon and the room was ready and waiting.. No justification for them to NOT have a room waiting for you.

Share your week

Would it be possible for you to "share" your week with a friend or family?.....there are so many times I'd love to visit somewhere but I can't go for the entire week. I'd love to split a week with someone.

I know that there's the last minute board here and I've seen a couple of announcements for less then a full week.

You could request mid week housekeeping so that everything is fresh when you arrive. If you need the place during the week I'm thinking that at most resorts it would be easy to find someone willing to take the weekend - a win/win situation.

We Did That -- Twice In 1 Week.

Would it be possible for you to "share" your week with a friend or family?
In January 2007, we snagged an outstanding Last Call timeshare reservation for ourselves & an even more outstanding Instant Exchange reservation for nephew & family (parents & 2 pre-teen daughters). The Orlando FL timeshare reservations mostly overlapped, but ours started Friday & our nephew's started Saturday.

Unfortunately, nephew & family's plane tickets didn't match up with their timeshare reservation -- they were arriving Friday & their reservation was for check-in Saturday.

No problem. The Chief Of Staff arranged things so nephew & family could check in at Silver Lake Resort Silver Points Friday afternoon. Then next day they checked in at Vistana Villages & we took their place at Silver Lake Resort Silver Points.

They weren't able to stay for the full week (because school started up again), so after they went home The Chief Of Staff & I packed up & finished out their week at Vistana Villages.

All the ins & outs were informal except the initial check-in at Silver Lake Resort Silver Points. We arranged that in advance with the front desk, making sure our nephew had with him a photocopy of our reservation confirmation letter. All went smoothly, totally trouble-free. Everybody had a great time.
