Call from company wanting to buy my timeshare at a high price

They called me claiming they needed to rent my timeshare for a golf tournament. They emailed me an offer of $5700 for a week . My MF are about $1300. I called Grand Mayan and asked if they have a golf tournament. They said they did not have one scheduled for that month

Why did you answer the phone?

My wife answered it and passed the call to me. They claimed they were affiliated with the resort. Grand Mayan has called us in the past with legit offers.

Don't answer your phone unless the number is in your contacts list. Send all other calls straight to voice mail.

Were these "legit offers" to rent out your week for 4x the amount of your MFs?
No , its a scam. Hower, Vidanta sent us offers in the past to pay them $250 for a bonus week with meal credits. We did two weeks in rocky point

I'm a little confused here. First you say "Grand Mayan has called [you] in the past with legit offers." Then when I ask about these "legit offers", you say it's a scam.

The $5000 to rent our week for a fake golf tournament is a scam from people pretending to respresent Mayan. The legit offers come from Grand Mayan as bonus weeks .

Be cautious offers like this often turn out to be scams. Companies asking for no upfront fees might still have hidden charges or pressure tactics, and some don’t follow through on the deal. Research thoroughly and consider consulting with a timeshare exit expert.

No need to research anything. Just ignore them.
