I am meeting family at Cabo airport and unfortunately they land about 2-3 hours after I do ..... are there any restaurants or bars non-air-side (ie after you clear custooms and baggage claim? I think its Terminal 3 - we are flying using UA and Alaskaair.

Any help would be appreciated.

The airport at Cabo is terrible and overcrowded. There is nothing there unless they have completed their expansion (which they need despirately) It also depends on which terminal you land in. I remember that one is nicer than the other.

About the best you can do is the Burger King

Cheers

You mention two terminals  If you are coming in on American Airlines from LAX, do we land where the taxis and shuttles are to take you to the Grand Mayan in San Juan del Cabo????

Mike
As others said the airport is crowded. Arrange for transportation ahead of time I use Baja Ground www.bajaonly.com. Others prefer transcabo. Meet your family at your hotel your wait will be much more pleasant.

Cathyb There are shuttles and taxis outside of each terminal They are just two different buildings probably about a hundred yards from each other. Just get outside. The people inside the room just before you exit the terminal are mainly OPC's (Timeshare salesman) and they are very aggressive.

Here is a link to all the airport information you may need.

www.sjdloscabosairport.com We have always arrived at the original terminal, which NWA, US Airways, etc land at. We are not familiar with the restaurant and food outlets at the other terminals. Bruce

If you arrive on Saturday you will probably be standing in a very long line the lenght depending on how many planes arrive before you. Our longest line ever anywhere is SJD arriving on Alaska Airlines at 1 pm. They have a line for arrivals that will amaze or stun you. You start to feel like the lines getting smaller until you make it through the terminal doors inside when you realize that you will be in a new serpentine line zig zaging throughout the terminal.

If your getting a rental car you could cruise around San Jose Del Cabo for awhile. If you have to wait at the airport it would kind of suck. If you do end up waiting you will have plenty of people wanting you to attend a TS presentation. It seems that anybody wearing a white collared shirt can set this up and it seems that everyone outside the terminal is wearing one. These people will tell you anything to get you to go on a TS presentation such as they are with Trans Cabo, Avis or anyone and anything your looking for. To make it more confusing some of these white collared shirt wearing people actually do work for the car rental companies and buses. What you want to do is get out front quickly and look around to see who is who. All of the people inside are probably working with the TS companies.

The timing might be that your only waiting 90 min instead 3 hours if your lines are way longer than your buddies but I think on Saturday your out of luck. If your arrival is Wednesday and most any other day besides Saturdays you will probably scoot right through.

No, there really isnt anything to do here but wait if you have to.

We have been lucky the last two trips. When there is a huge line, as is not uncommon, keep your eyes and ears open. They will open a new line and sometimes two but are not very forthcoming that it is now open. Last two trips we bypassed a HUGE group of people simple by watching for the airport staff to open new lines.

bbq: ok, let's see if I have this right :) (1) We're arriving on Sunday so crowds shouldn't be as hectic. (2) If Royal Mayan doesn't show up with their transportation outside (they still haven't confirmed my 12/2 reservation via email) -- then costwise, it won't vary much if two of us take a cab or an airport transportation shuttle. (3) Anyone know approx. cost to Royal Mayan in San Jose del Cabo??? Sorry for all the clarifications

I think your reservations are at The Grand mayan. I do not believe there is a Royal Mayan in Los Cabos. Bruce

Thanks, you're exactly right.

The shuttles are around $40.00 per person to Cabo round trip. A rental car picked up at the airport and droped off in Cabo is about $50.00 or more depending on the type. So you could get a car, go to Cabo and cruise around to do whatever and then drop it off in Cabo 24 hours latter. On your way back to the airport you could get a car in Cabo 24 hours before you have to drop it off at the airport. The taxi would cost a bit because of the distance from the airport to Cabo.

Finally got confirmation for airport transportation to the Mayan in Los Cabos; had to call again -- and the good news is its complimentary! :) For those going in future, you need to speak to the concierge to set it up and she sends email confirmation.

Appreciate all the good information - it would appear that it may be far more beneficial to get to the hotel and wait for them at the bar - lol.

Cheers.
