I love this place, but next year I’m going to try harder not to be here at ”Spring Break” (wooohoo). The pool side chaises are “marked” starting as early as 6am - pool hours start at 8am. finally at 8:30 one person showed up and raised the umbrella, a pool attendant was right over to say, “it’s too windy for the umbrella“, but had done nothing for the 1.5 hours the chaises had been left unattended.

the front desk even sent a text warning of the “rules” This morning.
other than pool chaises rule breakers, this resort is totally worth a visit. Stepping outside the propert, lower your food costs. there a 100’s of restaurants within a :10-:15 minute walk. At the town plaza, there is an art walk every Thursday. It’s a 10-15 minute walk from the resort.

Good advice. I have always gone in January and Feb and never had a problem.

When does "Spring Break" start and end for this resort?

Other than Javiers for the Sunday Brunch, the restaurants onsite are not worth the price.

BTW....I usually go to the adult pool in the back. Much quieter. Plenty of seating with none of this chair hogging nonsense. I also found it was much easier to get drinks by the pool as the attendant came by regularly and I got to know him by name. :)

I checked availability before I came down here this week. NADA on the HGVC side, then I switched accounts to HVC/Max and up popped plenty! Even a 2 BR O.V.

maybe they could allow ALL members this type of access. NADA to a plethora just seems unfair.

it’s not so very full, that even with the chaise 🐷 🐷 that you can’t find somewhere to sit - maybe not 4 or more right next to each other.

AND those with enuf points that can procure the 3BR GRAND, really don’t need to have pool side seating, as they have a pool/jacuzzi on their balcony. I actually booked that room, for next year, but traded it in for the 2BR OV & a 1 BR. The third BR in the 3BR has no viewable window.

as to spring break… it’s hard to say which week it really is these days

The 2 bdrms also have this cave room. Hasn't been a problem because our guests just sleep there (or my DH works remotely in there during the day.) We've always had blocked views in the past so never spent much time on the balcony. There are many nice places to go at this resort.

I am looking forward to an ocean view experience at this resort so will use the balcony more. We extend our stay at the Westin and other resorts to get the OV experience.

This is an HVC resort so I would not expect HGVC to have access.

We love the Quiet Pools and usually get a Room that overlooks the Quiet Pools. The Main Pools and Beach are only a short walk away. Quite often we take a Thermos and Coffee Cups down to the Beach for Sunrise. Avoid the "Partial" Ocean Views. These are along the outer perimeter. Your main view is the time share next door - either Vidanta or Royal Solaris depending on which side you are on. But if you lean out you can get a glimpse of the ocean.

During the Thursday Art Walk the lower quality/folk art and jewelry is in the Plaza. The nicer/more professional Art is on Alvaro Obregon known as the Gallery District.

When we go to San Jose del Cabo we start at the Royal Solaris. An AI to which we belong. Then Cabo Azul. Then Coral Baja.

Are you HGVC Max also on the HGVC side? If so, I would expect the inventors to be different on each side if it is truly an Exchange Program.

Yes. But my point is.. if there truly is availability this close in - offer it TO BOTH reservation systems.

He must have MAX. Legacy HGVC cannot see Cabo Azul even OS.
I have too many options! I have 2 accounts HGVC MAX & HVC MAX with 2 very different booking systems and availability issues.

Cabo Azul frequently is offered under the discounted Points Page.

Why is it only showing 4 days? (asked by someone who loves the resort but does not own in the system)
Cuz, I like 4 day stays.

@h2oflyboy, how is the availability of KBC in Open Season?
? Rates for OS access to KBC ( (? similar to or better than HGVC OS $) (? same or different with HGVC Max vs The Club/HVC/DRI Max for you)?

@CalGalTraveler, @HuskerATL & @GT75 , for those of us who have DeX access via CL, do we have this OS access (or getaways, or whatever they call it)?
Is it decent availability?

Also, can you see if we have DeX weeks availability for 1/25 through 2/1/2026 at KBC at any decent OV (or any 2 BR) rooms? (sorry, still waiting for my DeX enrollment/deposit)
TY!

Yes, but it is called DeX Xtras Stays. The price is per night so IMO this would be expensive for Cabo Azul. I have found some good pricing for HVC resorts in Gatlinburg or Sedona or former Embarc resorts for example.

Like GT75 said, yes, but not the best cost. Weekly exchanges are much better

I love that it tells you exactly what kind of view you get there. I wonder if I exchange thru II if I will give me a code on the exchange info to see if I have any view. Or do II exchanges into Cabo Azul usually get the worst views anyway?

I've exchanged Hilton 2x into Cabo Azul via RCI. We had blocked views that either looked at the timeshare next door with a peek of the ocean if you strained your neck to look, or faced inward toward the pool but could not see the pool nor ocean because of a roof below.

You also pay a hefty resort fee of close to $500.

The balconies were private and the rooms quiet and nicely appointed but we did not have expectations of using the balcony for a view because of the exchange.

I expect II to be the same.

The downside to II exchanges in CA is that you would probably have to pay resort fees

I happened to look at the balcony of the room across from ours - woman opened a door and was wrapped in a towel. The had both balcony windows opened fully. Not so private.
